From Marilyn:
Yesterday I viewed Rabbit Island from Makai Pier from 2:42 to 3:46 pm. It was mostly sunny with frequent passing clouds and moderate winds.
I saw three or four HMS during my viewing session.
Out on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB was what I’m labeling Sub-adult Unknown 1 (SU1): probably sub-adult size, lighter ventral; no info on sex or tags. This seal was gone when I looked at 3:35 pm.
About 60 feet Lanikai side of the 3BS was a Juvenile Male (JM): juvenile size, older coat, yellowish-brown male belly, and two red tags. There were definite green patches below the eyes.
About 50 feet Makapuu of the 3BS was a Sub-adult Male (SM): sub-adult size, older coat, mottled tan male belly (I think); no info on tags.
At 3:39 pm, I realized that a seal had hauled out in the RRB channel. I’ve labeled this seal as Sub-adult Unknown 2 (SU2): sub-adult size, newer coat; no info on sex or tags. This could be a relocated SU1.
