Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Team T&D.
Team T&D were happy to be officially out volunteering again. They hiked out to the point and met Lesley out there. Their first find was Kami RL74 on a little patch of coral beach. This being the first big swell of the season and high tide, a lot of usual haul out spots were under water. Kami was their only find at the point.
On their way back they found a very green RL98 Lina. She was way up the beach, due to the big surf and high tide.
Last find was Holokai RG40 at Lymans. His old coat is nicely peeling away.
Team Billand was surprised to find RN14 Kalani today on lower rocks, alone. He is very green and healthy. On their second check RN14 was being slapped around with the big waves coming in. He just went with each wave, wedged himself in rocks while the waves covered him. Later he was vocalizing loudly as if another critter was around, but nothing was there. He finally settled in a safe spot.
At another west side location Team Billand found Kaale RH32 way up on shore again. He was snoozing alone and the surfers were very respectful. Volunteer arrived and a second seal hauling in to the right by the trees. Team Billand was able to ID Aukai RL12. She hauled up slowly, there were a couple of people taking photos. Team Billand left the site and volunteer remained.
Team Billand went back to check on Kalani who was still in his spot snoozing alone. But now they spotted RL20 Kalua who was all the way inland in the water hole fast asleep. The line coming from the right side of his mouth was visible as well as his tags. He was alone today. While checking out RL20 there was a pod of dolphins off shore.
Team Billand returned to check on Kaale and Aukai. At 1 pm Aukai was now in the spot where Kaale had been in the morning. There are a lot more folks on the beach today. Volunteer arrived again, and they thought maybe Aukai was getting ready to leave. Nope she just cooled off and went back to the same spot.
Then there was Kaale RH32 who moved to the right with more people around him. Wish he selected a more quiet area to molt. One person got really close for the picture. Team Billand watch him go down the slope and then they left for the day.
