My first look at Rabbit Island, at 0727 was a bust, and even when I got back for round #2 it was still bare. It would be 1135 before I saw my first critter. It would prove to be Nani (RK60), hauling out at the left end of the beach. She would reenter the water at 1220.At 1147, on a pan I found a 20% molted Aukai (RL12) just hauling out to Right Middle Cliff. At 1225 Nani would haul out to join her. Both remained the rest of the day.
Despite multiple checks of the SE quadrant by both Gayle & myself, those would prove to be the only finds.At 0535 Team Billand called with the report of Pohaku (RO28) still at Nanakuli. Mahalos to Melina & Deb. It was the usual crop of non caring idiots. The Billands report she is 25-30 % molted. The Billands had gotten word of another animal at Nanakai Beach, Maili, however once again when they arrived they were advised by witnesses, that idiots had thrown sand and rocks at it, and it departed. A shot from Melina Clark was inconclusive as to ID, however Kimo Kai would have to be at the top of the possibles list.
A MelanieTxt at 1350 advised that she had Holokai (RG40) at Turtle Bay.
In the Yesterday’s News department. Val sent shots of Rocky’s boy, PK4, as well as 2 sons of Pohaku, last year’s pup RF28, and this year’s addition RG28. Thank you Val !!
There was more Val news. She advise just moments ago that Rocky’s pup had gotten is bling today. He is now officially RG58.
So is it intentional that RO28 Pohaku's pups have RF28 and now this year RG28.... and Rocky's (RH58) pup is RG58? I like it makes it easy to remember and track....
