On a pan at 0848, on a routine pan, I found what would prove to be Kea (RN46) out on the left rock flats. He would later be joined by weaner, Cass (RG06). Both would enter the water. Cass would haul out to the left end of the beach, while Kea would haul out to join Nani & Aukai at 3BS. All would remain the rest of the day.
Team Billand called at 0922 with the report of Kekoa (RK72) & little sister U’ilani (RN36) foraging, and then hauling out to the Reef Runway. U’ilani’s molt is 100%.
New posse member Cate Greenwood, called at 1327 with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) at China Walls. Welcome to the posse !!! You and John done good !!
A Dana email at 1526 brought word of an animal with a shark bite wound at “the Elbow”, Turtle Bay. Photos from Rachelle Vroman confirm the bite, at the left shoulder area. Volunteer Jon Gelman, on Holokai duty, went to investigate, and his photos confirm the bite. No confirmed ID at this time. Ola would have to be at the top of the “possibles” list, but ??????????????? Awaiting further info.
