8/10/2015 DB's Dailies: Kainoa&U/F@RI, Buster@CW, Ua,Holokai&R5AY@Turtle Bay, Rocky&PK4@Kauai

On my first look at Rabbit Island I found Kainoa (RN04) snoozin’ at the log, 40 ft left of 1BS. He would later move down to the beach front and remained all day.

 At 1030 the resident U/F hauled out 40 ft left of 3BS. She remained the rest of the day.

 Karen Turner had the early Ua&Holokai shift. Both were there on her arrival, however Ua departed at 0845. Holokai remains.

 Diane Gabriel called at 1030 to advise that she was with R5AY at Right Spot’s Spot, Turtle Bay. She also texted that Ua Malie (RT10) had departed at 0845. Holokai remains. Is this the day ?????? Only Ua Knows !!

A Diane T Text at 1840 advised that Holokai was still there alone. At 1905 she advised that Holokai had gone far out for a swim, and that she had lost the boy.

 Tracy called at 1501 to advise that she had received info about an animal somewhere in Portlock. She provided the Julian Sydow photo, and I guessed China Walls. When I arrived at 1530 there was Buster (RV08) snoozin’ at his usual China Walls hangout.

 Makai Ocean Engineering posse member Adrian Jelffs sent a drawing, done by his daughter some years ago titled “ How to Spot a Hawaiian Monk Seal”. Thanks Adrian !

 Evening mail from Val on Kauai brought news of her activities today, part of which was hangin’ out with Rocky (RH58) and a growing pup.
