At 0737 I found RM38 & Kainoa (RN04) out on the left end rock flats.
At 0839 PO2 would haul out briefly to the flats, but returned to the water, hauling out to the left end of the beach for the rest of the day.Today I thinkin’ female, but ?????
Some “Bad Guys” landed, right of the 3BS ,and began exploring to the left. They had passed the 3BS without noticing, but thankfully, they stopped to actually read the 2nd BS, and to their credit, turned around and returned to their equipment and departed. I’d already called DOCARE, and knew that there was nobody available to respond so we lucked out there.
Kainoa would remain on the left flats, but RM38 relocated to Rocky Right Beach for the day.
Marilyn & Lesley did their usual Saturday End of the World trek. This time however Marilyn went in from the west side , while Lesley went from the Mokuleia side. Marilyn found Kolohe (RW22) at the 20 minute spot. He would be gone on her way out, however RL42 had taken his place.
Out at the point they found Ka’ena in Ka’ena’s pool. The hook , leader and some line remain, but he appeared to be resting comfortably.
Team Billand checked in at 0859 with the report of Kekoa (RK72) at Maili Point.
At 1131 they found Kimo Kai (RT12) at Maili Guard Rails.
One of my east side posse, Pili, called at 1558. She happened to be at Paradise Cove, and reported an animal in the water inside the cove. I contacted Team Billand, and at 1630 they confirmed the Nihoa (R912) ID.
Ocean Safety called at 1443 with the report of an animal just arriving at Kaimana Beach in Waikiki. I contacted Dana, who happened to be across the street at the Zoo. A 1502 she confirmed the Benny (RE74) ID. I think I now know who yesterday’s SB & Hanauma Bay swimming head was.

Good shot of the hook.... as uncomfortable as this must be and upsetting to see.... as far as hooks go this one seems to be on the outer surface.... if it's a barbless hook it can slide off...
it's unfortunate this type of location is very difficult to deal with a seal... restraining the seal could actually cause more harm than the hook itself.
