5-1-2014 Lesley's Ka'ena Point Trek

Kimo Lyman and I did the Ka'ena Point hike and monitoring.

Our first surprise was to find R303 "BG" rolling at the entrance of her pool. On our way out we checked on her but she was no longer there.

At the end of the Runway the Trio: RO40 "Ka'ena", RW02 "Kauai PV" and RW08 "Kerby" were all together sleeping.

On our way out they were still there but all 3 moving around because they were being washed by the upcoming tide.

The second surprise was to see little TEMP 402 juvenile male hauling out beside the Main Pool. He didn't stay more than 10 minutes than left.
We later found him in another pool towards Mokuleia side. Already dried up and sleeping peacefully.

Back Beach was seal free with some trails in the sand

We checked birth beach Mokuleia for RN58 "Luana" but she wasn't around  - Kimo will go back in the evening to see if she showed up.
Aloha,  Lesley

BG R303

TEMP 402 is the temporary "name" given by NOAA to the juvenile male that was first documented 10 days ago @ Ka'ena Point.
His distinctive marks are:
- he has a squinty Left eye
- Scar line on top of head on right side
- Scar line on top of head between the eyes
= Scar above belly
- Scar on chest between FF
- He's the same size as RL42
