7-28-11 DB Dailies

On my 2nd look at Rabbit Island at 0830 I found Nani (RK60) at the left end of the beach. At 0937, Duke (RA12) hauled out to a separate location, also at the left end. At 1048 Nani would enter the water and at 1102 hauled out to join Duke. They would do a swim session together and after hauling out at 1151 again at the left end, they spent the rest of the day snoozin' together.

At 0828 Team Billand checked in with the report of Irma (R010) at Makaha (Beal's Pond). Apparently, this was her 2nd day at that location. There no calls about her yesterday.

Rachel called at 0905 to advise that Rocky (RH58) had overnighted at Diamond Head, and remains near the showers.

Team Billand called to advise that posse member Clay Gates had called at 0922 to report T21M at Iroquois Point. Clay's photos show a possible loosening of his transmitter on the right side margin, but it still looks solidly in place.

The Billands checked in again at 0927 to advise that R018 & M&M (R020) were just hauling out to Maili Point. Barbara called again at 0937 to report that R018 had been barking at something out of her line of sight as they were hauling out. When she repositioned she found Benny (RE74), who had apparently been there when the other two hauled out. According to Barbara Benny and R018 had many words, and Benny wound up departing at 1122.

At 1012 Dana checked in from the Reef Runway on her 10-12 shift, and advised that Ewa Girl and Kekoa were still there together.

In the "Yesterday's News" department I received photos from the caller on the R018/M&M haul out yesterday at Maili.

I've kinda'/sorta' rushed through the news thus far because the really big news is developing at this writing. Dana called at 1532 with word that there was a Mom &Pup on the North Shore. She was picking up the stuff and heading northward. She called again at 1609 with word that Karen Turner had confirmed the R5AY ID. Tracy had R5AY listed as a possible 7-15 date, but bottom line is only R5AY knows. Apparently, today was da' day !! In a 1715 conversation with Barbara the birth was observed by witnesses, who said it happened between 1400 and 1500.
