8-6-2012 DB's Dailies

At 0634 I found Sadie (RB12) once again, snoozin' at Left Middle Cliff, Rabbit Island. When I got back to Makai Pier at 0945 she had departed.

On a pan at 0639 I found Aukai's familiar white belly, in her favorite tide pool, 80 ft right of 3BS.
When I got back at 0945 she was up on the water front rocks, and in the company of what would prove to be Duke (RA12). Duke would be gone when I got back at 1200.

A male and female kayak pair arrived at RI at 1106, and remained an hour or so, at the left end, having no impact on the animals at the other end. There was no DOCARE response.

Kimo called with the report of Buster (RV08) doing 7 minute dives at Spitting Cave. He was still there when I left, alittle after 0800.

Posse member Linda would call at 1150 reporting that Buster had just hauled out to Irma's Grotto, Kokee Flats. Gayle got confirmation photos. Linda reported that Buster left with the rising tide at 1450.

Gayle (she was a busy lady today) called at 0953 to report Kaiwi (RK96) at Lanai Lookout.

The highlight of the day came at 0944 with a call from Rachel, at Diamond Head, reporting 3 animals near the showers. Two together and one alone a bit down the beach. Rachel signed everybody off. Rachel's shots, as well as surprise contributions from Gayle (I told you she was busy) confirmed that the pair was Rocky (RH58) and Benny (RE74). The lone animal was confirmed as Irma (R010).
Per a Dana call in the afternoon it sounds like there was some hassling, from adoring fans going on, and HPD responded but word from Rachel, and witness accounts at the scene sounded like nothing heavy duty occurred. HPD was no doubt stoked to spend an hour or so with a bikini clad Rachel ! All were still there on Rachel's 1700 recheck. She will check again at dusk.

Team Billand found RIP (RR70) and M&M (R020) together at the fence line, White Plains at 0655. Their "surfer posse" had alerted them to their presence.

At 0655 the Billands also advised that Pohaku (RO28) was still at Secret Beach. They called her D#5 molt at 45%. It sounded like she was all over the place, requiring constant moving of the cordon, as she has been since her arrival there.

Diane "Diga" Gabriel did a shift at Mokuleia with R912 & Pup, on D#13, and sent her usual , outstanding photos.

An email from Karen Rohter brought this little tidbit of info. Enjoy !! Thank you Karen.... and all those who helped with this little critters rescue.

The Billands are once again working their routine Dark to Dark Shift. Check da' blog in the morning for shots of their day.
