8-22-210 Team Billand Has a Full Day

R020 (M+M) and RIP @ Campbells
 RIP
RIP looking a little tattered in this photo
M+M - I had to double, triple check to make sure I had the correct photo..... She looks so different in this picture than the others.... so skinny. This just goes to show you how the different positions in the sand can change how they look.  Geesh she looks like she needs a good meal
 Pohaku @ Maili day 3
admiring fans... very close but behind the signs
this girl picks a spot and decides to stay for a while
 Rocky girl @ Iroquois
 open wide
Benny @ white plains.... is he worn out from cruising
or just resting up for round two.

I love the pictures! We saw our first monk seals this summer on our first visit to Hawaii. Question - is the green on their skin algae? And is it harmful to them?
Thanks!

Monk Seals molt annually. Their old coat comes off and the new coat looks like the Rocky shots in today's blog. As the year continues that charcoal coat will turn brown and develop lots of algae since they spend so much time in the water. It has no ill affect on them whatsoever. DB
