A break from the normal chronological statement of the days events is required here because the hands down highlight of the day came with a 0743 call from Team Billand with the news that KERMIT (R012) IS BACK!!!!! Yep, they found the boy at Wind Sock. He had last been seen on Oahu, at Maili Point, on 5-22-12, by the Billands...of course .
Okay, back to our regularly scheduled programing... At 0637 I found Duke (RA12) at Left Middle Cliff, on Rabbit Island. He would remain all day.
At 0644 Team Billand reported RIP (RR70) and M&M (R020) together fronting #1944 at White Plains.
At 0653 Colleen called with the report of an animal at the showers, Diamond Head. She would confirm the Rocky (RH58) ID at 0805. Colleen advised that Rocky was still there on her 1730 check.
At 0653 I found Kolohe (RW22), 70 ft right of 3BS. He too would remain all day. A molt is in his immediate future.
On a stop at the first road side pull off, east of Lanai Lookout, at 0843, I found Buster (RV08)) bellowing and in search mode, moving east. Despite stops at the other pull offs as well as Blowhole I did not see him again. Zeeny would report 15 minutes haul outs for Buster at Lanai Lookout, either looking for Kaiwi, or when she was there, trying to get her in the water, with out luck. I got a Dera call at 1416 about an animal on the rocks at Blowhole, but nobody was there on my arrival. There is zero doubt in my mind that it was just another come, look, leave, Buster sighting.
Apparently his Northwest adventure is ended.
At 0853 Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) at Nanakai Beach, Maili. They reported her departure at 1230.
While Kermit is the biggy news, close behind would be my 2nd look at Kaupo Beach Park, at 0940. There I found Irma (R010) out on the rocks. The rising tide would wash her off the rocks at 1130. She relocated up onto the beach. I got her cordoned off and she has remained the rest of the day. She was still there on my 1600 check, but gone when I arrived at 1720. Tomorrow ?????
At 1012 I found Aukai (RL12) rolling in the shore break at the left end of the beach on RI. On my 1500 recheck I found her along side Kolohe, right of 3BS on RI.
At 1332 Zeeny reported Kaiwi (RK96) at Lanai Lookout. Gayle reported her departure at 1454.

I love the shot of the Makai Pier and Irma, that says alot, not just pretty. It shows Irma back with DB, just across his home at Makai Pier. Glad she is there again and away from Ewa Beach.
I think the KAIWI KLAN are great bunch of folks, looking out for her and Buster, her new best friend. The photos are spectacular. I enjoy each and every one you guys take. DB you are so lucky to have these folks helping ya out.
Glad Rocky is back with Colleen, she been running all over Ewa Beach, Iroquios Pt. I hope the folks out at Diamond Head take good care of her, she needs to just CHILL.
Yesterday, Rob and I did an early morn search of NANAKAI and found no one there. But we knew the little girl, POHAKU was lerking out off shore and would be back. But we had a whole lot of beaches to cover for OTHER ANIMALS.
Finding M and M with RIP at Plains was sweet and they spent time together at that location till after dark. All the cabin folks were so respectful,YIPPEEEE!!! Even these two been together for weeks, running up and down Ewa Beach. Moe and Mark were great protecting them and Rocky as well. Thanks guys. And a great THANKS TO CLAY GATES AND VERA...of Iroquois for their protection as well.
Then the most sensational find came next...I did my usual check of Windsock, saw a blimp floating near the reef. I saw a spot on the side of the animals belly, knowing just two animals with that spot, Benny and Kermit. I went, ok, wait a minute, lets focus here...
Holy shit!!! HOLY SHIT!!! I think its Kermit, he's back. Wait, let me call Rob, he got to see this one. So Rob came over, focusing, went around to other side, and he said the same thing..KERMIT!!!! Its Kermit. Yep, it certainly is. Wait till I call DB..I was so excited. And do you know that Kermit was just a sliver above water, floating...thats all we saw. Ok, called DB, Dera...got to move on check other beaches. But I wanted that shot of Kermit's hauling up on the reef for better proof, he was BACK. We left, came back and just as I wanted, Kermit was hauling on the reef, all the markers showing perfectly. Oh what a site for my NEW EYE's...and to my shock, MY EYES WERE FOCUSED TODAY. YES!!!! YES!!! Oh how grateful a lady I am. EYE SIGHT is some thing we all take for granted, but NOW I KNOW HOW SPECIAL A DAY THIS IS SEEING OUR FAT BOY...KERMIT!!!!! Oh look at this animal, so huge, fat, powerful. JOY. JOY. Happy Happy. I am thrilled, so is Robert. WE came back over and over in between checks..he had a long rest, back from his YEARLY EPIC JOURNEY. Welcome back sweet, gentle, KERMIT. We missed seeing you!!!
Next: Pohaku was back at Nanakai Maili. WHile fixing the perimeter for her, I met this lovely soul known as VANNA FERRIERA. She asked lots of questions, I got her interested in Pohaku's History. And to my delight, Miss Vanna wanted to help us out. AWESOME. Now we got someone else to help Miss Debbie too. Had to leave, but Miss Vanna stayed with Pohaku, helped with the watch with Miss Debbie...Oh how lucky we are. but the sad thing, I never got her contact number as I was in a hurry. Dam..I hope she shows up this morning again. Pohaku needs more help, Debbie needs more help out there at Nanakai Beach.
So thats our day...wasnt that cool??? Indeed it was!!!
