8-17-2012 DB's Dailies:

On my first Rabbit Island look, I found Kolohe (RW22) up in the Morning Glory, 40 ft left of 1BS, and Ewa Girl (RS00)&Duke(RA12) once again together at 2BS. All would move down mid morning to cool off. Kolohe would depart at 1103.

At 0942 Aukai (RL12) hauled out to join Kolohe near the water line at the left end. Though she was less than 5 ft away, there was never any interaction. On a pan at 1103 both were gone. Aukai would haul out to the same location at 1203.
Team Billand checked in at 0645 with the report of Pohaku (RO28) once again at Secret Beach, KoOlina.

Marilyn and Lesley did the Ka'ena Point trek today and found Noa (R6FI), BG (R303) and an U/U at the end of the world. This was the first sighting of Noa since 6-19-12, and BG was last seen on 5-19-12. Even though there is natural bleach on the forehead of the U/U which would suggest T21M, I'm don't think that it's him. I getting brain cell backup from Tracy, so maybe we'll get a confirmation tomorrow.
Marilyn and Lesley stopped by the pup site, and I know Zeeny was there today also, though Z often gets home to late to send photos. I'm sure we'll see them however.

R912 and pup
 BG "benny's girl"
BG last seen on 6/19/2012
 Noa last seen 5/19/2012
Today 8/17/2012 (two days away from 8/19 - I have to admit the numbers struck me, and if we had a lottery here on the islands i would play 5-6-8-12-17-19 or some combination of. :-)  Anyone on the mainland want to play the number, we can split it.
UU = Unidentified Unknown
What ever happened to CeeCee and Keiki ( not that I think this UU is one of them, but was wondering if there was ever any sign of them on the other islands)
 RO28 Pohaku
Barb you must be happy to be out there.... BUT!!!!!!!
You better take "proper" care of your healing process.
 and Pohaku agrees
Such a strange scar... makes it easy to ID her

Hello there!
I was wondering why Pohaku has stayed so long at Secret Beach. I was lucky enough to see her last week while our family was on vacation. Has she decided to make Secret Beach her residence?

Hi Tyler,
We never really KNOW why the seals do what they do, and as DB says once you think you know, they prove you wrong.

But chances are since she just went through her molt she is originally spent the time there to rest while she went through this. Why she is still hanging around? Maybe there is some good eats close by? I do know as much as we love her, it would be nice if she moved on and gave the volunteers a break.

As far as residence, the monk seals pretty much move around quite a bit and may frequent a certain area as a home base. They travel between island quite often too.
