8-5-2012 Team Billand Day 4 Pohaku's Molt

Team Billand spent the day with Pohaku through the heat and rain. Apparently she moved back and forth to the water line several times during the day, making them move the signs. Also a special shout out to Linda who has been helping Team Billand quite a bit.....
Enjoy the shots of Pohaku and the results of her 4th day of molting.... there is a nice series of pics by the sign.
The sign should read sleeping and peeling.

 Look how shiny

Thanks to Linda who came out twice yesterday, gave us a delicious lunch and drink with chips. You are a mighty volunteer and it is a pleasure to have you with us.

Pohaku is in her 12th day at KoOlina, is keeping us on our toes with her many treks to waters edge and back up to the shore, to her trees. She is a darling, sweet, speedy 6yr old who is molting now for 5 days and doing well in getting that skin off. BUT...she is very active and its hard to keep up with her. We put up perimeter early morn, like 6am daily, she makes her daily trek to waters edge, stays in area for 3 to 4 hours, then suddenly galumphs up shore, and we got to be there for to remove ropes, signs and at times we're too slow and she just gets to the signs...its hilarious as she glares up as if reading the sign. Yesterday the munchkin ran over the SHHH sign...tried to toss it up in the air and stuff. Then took a fast seal nap near it.

All this took place yesterday, Miss Pohaku's treks up and down like 8 times. We had people helping us to pull signs and ropes for her MAJESTY.

We began our watch at 6am and we didnt leave at all the entire day fo no BREAK. We ended our day with Pohaku close to 8pm.

And we are so very grateful to Linda for coming to our aid in controling ropes, signs, crowds.

I had to keep track of the many people coming to see this magnificent, entertaining seal. I was up to over 365 people, just from 12:30pm and with all the acitivity going on, LOST TRACK of the total count. Sunset was over a hundred folks and one dog.

Finally after the birds came to the trees as usual for the night, after most of the crowd LEFT, we pulled the ropes for one last time, bid each other farewell, said a PRAYER for Miss Pohaku's good nights rest...Love this seal, she is a trooper...busy little girl. Cant wait to see whats instore this morning...

Once more...thanks Linda Stenton. you are a good soul.
