3-3-2012 DB Dailies:

It was an action packed day in the Monk Seal world, all around Oahu today.

At 0620 "Jack at the Bay" called to report an animal at the east end of Hanauma Bay. When I arrived at 0630 I found Irma waiting for me. This is her 3rd haul out to HB in the last 4 day. She made the CH#2 news tonight. She was still there when HB closed and we picked up the equipment at 1800.

On my 0740 Rabbit Island check, I found what would prove to be RM38, and Kolohe (RW22) together to the right of Seal Rock Inlet. On my return at 1227 I found the Mojo (RI17) had joined them at that location.

On a pan at 1320 I found Nani (RK60) at the left end of the beach, 40 ft left of 1BS.

On my 3rd check of Kaiwi Kove, at 0809 I found Kaiwi (RK96) all tucked into her Naupaka bush. She would later move down to cool off, and would finally depart of her own volition at 1805. Thank you to Mrs Whisperer and the Elves for all the help !

At 0820 Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) at Secret Beach, KoOlina, She would depart at 1840.

Dana reported an animal in Punaluu at 1002. She would call at 1104 to confirm R5AY. Posse members Patrick and Zeeny, on there way to a day at PCC, also stopped by and assisted volunteer Sandra with the R5AY scene.

At 0930 Dana reported RI37 at Mokuleia. Photos from Paul Nelson confirm the RI37 ID.

At 1050 Team Billand reported M&M (R020) in Ewa Beach. Toni Russ photos also confirm the M&M ID.

Mrs. Whisperer (Marilyn) and Lesley did the Ka'ena Point trek, and found Ka'ena (RO40) and 761 at the end of the world.

At 1509 the Billands found Kermit (R012) at the 1st bunker west of the Nimitz Jetty.

At 1601 Team Billand found Noa (R6FI) at Maili.

At 1628 the Billands found T15M at Tracks. Unfortunately, they also noted that he had line wrapped around his torso, leading the left corner of his mouth. David Schofield was notified, and responded. He and Robert Billand successfully removed the hook and line at 1816.
