3-27-2012 Team Billand & West Side Seals

RB00 @ electric beach
boo who? RB00 that's who
RO28 @ Electric Beach
broken tag
this always strikes me as silly!  they pretty much on dry land and keep their head dunked under
Benny @ Maili
he looks so peaceful.... yet he can be a feisty bugger
Benny @ Tracks
did someone call me feisty?
I'm a little confused... these photos are labeled RIP @ Maili, yet in DB's daily he said Kerby was there. I confess other than the last photo with RIPs tag number I would have thought these photos were of the Kerbster.  DB - Team Billand HELP!
RIP R70/R71  Kerby W08

The RIP/Kerby confusion comes from the fact that once again pilot error is at play. It was in fact RIP there with Benny, but in my notes I'd jotted down Kerby because initially that was a possible ID. I then forgot to change the text of the daily. Sorry !

As for Kaiwi's new ding, I'm not sure of a cause, but it seems more related to rock climbing than a bite of some kind. DB

Yes Mam, that is RIP RR70 with Benny.

This is what happened, I saw the large seal..saw a small bleach, one tag was seen, but I didnt get the reading. And being Kerby was hanging out there at that spot for two days, I thought perhaps it was Kerby.

BUT...after one and a half hours of observing the large animal, I got a tag shot and I had noticed all those scratches on right side of body. That made me see it wasnt Kerby at all, an older animal and bigger. And the bugger finally moved on the rocks, so I could make the positive ID AT LAST. And poor DB ment to change the ID, forgot. Sorry guys. So, Rip is back in town and probably hunting for M and M.

I also saw another seal on the rocks briefly that quickly got in the water before I could ID it. Smaller animal. AND THEN...I spotted the OTHER ANIMAL that came right up on the rocks before me..that one was DA BENNY. He never hesitates to haul in..it was spectacular to observe. I was having a ball watching all these guys show up. And in the process got baked by the blazing sun. But I walked away feeling so blessed and happy being there with those AWESOME Critters. Sad part, the smaller animal never showed up again. DAM!!!

Also, DA Benny was at Tracks earlier who left some time in the day and relocated to Maili Pt while I was there with RIP.

BOO left also from her location at Electric Beach...so..maybe the smaller seal could have been...HER. Who knows.

Well, time for another search, I cant wait for that sun to shine and to see who we can find today!!!
