We were out and early as usual, looking for seals, never found any at SWQ.
While at Nimitz area, got a phone call of an injured seal, KoOlina. Rob and I rushed out there as we know Pohaku is the critter that is there all the time lately.
At site of critter, we saw, R028, Pohaku, on the sand this time and she was just fine. Roped her off and educated.
While at Pohakus site, got a call of a seal Ewa Beach. Charged that way after Allan R. came to relieve our watch at KoOlina. THANKS ALLAN. Sorry for the people who didnt listen to ya out there.

Ewa Beach was pouring rain, but got the id of M and M, who is one fat MAMA!!

Next seal..Kermit out at Nimitz, way out there, hidden in the rocky area, far from people, WHO WERE JUST AROUND THE AREA, FISHING, SWIMMING, a dog, etc.But OUR FAT BOY WAS JUST FINE and SNOOZIN.

Next Seal:
Drove out to leeward side, found 6FI, our handsome NOA, snoozin in Heavy Rain. I got the id shots and left, too slippery.

Got to Tracks, saw a seal way up, from a far. Got to the seal who was SHARKBITE T15M. At that moment, while making the id, David Schofield calls with an injured seal near Kahi Power Plant. I told him, I am with Sharkbite and he looks perfectly fine. No injuries seen.
BUT!!!! After leaving site of T15M, I was viewing the shots in the car on our way back to KoOlina to be with R028. IT WAS THEN WE NOTICED...SHARKBITE HAD A HOOK IN HIS MOUTH, WITH LEADER LINE, Wrapped around his body, with some kind of feather looking object near his right stomach wound.
Rob and I talked about the situation, WHAT TO DO NOW??? Its late, sun is setting, NOAA wont come out. But I made the call to Schofield, he said he was coming out right away. We kept in contact, told him seal is staying for the night, he moved up to Greenery.
It was pouring RAIN, HEAVY but we stood watch on Sharkbite and he was ok with the rain. We saw lightning off shore at Maili area.
5:55pm David arrives with his magical tools, he accessed the situation, made a decision to take the hook set up off. As this seal is not seen too often, usually at Kaena Pt on the rocks.
In the end, David got the line, walked around animal, was tugging on the line, Rob came up with the tool, Sharkbite wakes up, starts opening mouth, hook in mouth..suddenly the line popped out, falling on the sand, Rob picks it up giving it back to David, and TA DAAA!!! It was over, sharkbite took off and ok.
We gave hugs, shook hands and stuff, it went well, in seconds, line was off animal. It turned out to be a DAMASHI line...with lots of hooks attached, one bent, and the feather thing in tact also. DAVID and ROB were magnificent!!! So appreciate men who take things into their own hands, in a calm manner, freeing the great SHARKBITE. Wow, just amazing stuff ya know. Then the sun set..david went back home, we went to KoOlina, had to take care of Puhaku.
Get to KoOlina, guess what, seal remains on shore. Now we had to crash a lovely wedding, quickly passing in between all those lovely people in fancy clothes, us passing in our dirty, wet stinky clothes from a long day.
6:40pm Pohaku flipped over, looks around, snorts her way into the water and is gone for the night. YIPPPEE...DAY IS DONE!! All went well!!! AMEN!!!!
