LIVE...LOCAL...LATE BREAKING !!!!!.......................... IRMA ...IS...BACK!!!!!!
Yes.... that was the highlight of the day, so let's start there. Team Billand got a call from their nephew, Ian at 0953 who reported 3 seals in
"Beal's Pond", just west of Makaha Beach. His description was "one with N3, one with a big scar on the back, and one really green one and
there's alot of fighting". When Team Billand arrived they found Irma, Kermit and Benny. Apparently Benny had prime position on Irma and Kermit was off to the side. They have remained there all day. As you all know, this marks Irma's return to Oahu after her journey to Only Irma Knows where. She is skinny and baggy in the shorts as you would expect a post weaning Mom to be. She was last seen on 6-30-10 in Ewa Beach. We'll probably never know where she went to have her pup, but today's location would suggest that she is returning from the NW. That is only my personal opinion.
From the Billand's reports it sounded like Benny and Kermit did lots of sparring, and Benny even charged people he deemed to be too close. Barbara reported that Kermit had departed at 1721, only to return at 1739, when additional rounds of the Irma Wars broke out. All were still there at dark.
Team Billand's day was not over. They would find Makaiwi near Wind Sock, Kalaeloa Beach at 1033.
They got a call from the posse member, John, the maintenance guy at Nimitz Beach at 1338 reporting an animal there. When they arrived at 1425 they found Rocky.
After a start like that I'm almost embarrassed to add my mundane Rabbit Island news. Today's cast was M&M and Mojo together at the left end at 0629, and a 100% molted Ewa Girl at the right end. Ewa Girl would depart at 0900. I did an afternoon check of Hanauma Bay, just in case, but she was not there.
Buster would show up at 0835 and made two attempts to haul out to M&M and Mojo's location. Naturally, Mojo wasn't all that wild about that idea, and both attempts ended in failure. Mojo would depart at 0950. Slick little dude that he his, Buster moved right in there with M&M. They remained there the rest of the day.
I did a 1715 Rabbit Island check and found that Sam was on the beach at the left end. Alas , there was no sign of Ewa Girl, nor was she at Hanauma Bay on a 1730 check.
Buster, Mojo and M+M
