9/10/2010 Benny frantically looks for Irma

What is most amazing about these photos is... we pretty much know the story.... since Barb and Rob are so diligent in following these animals each day... we got to see through their photos how Benny and Kermit went against each other for Irma.... and since Benny is the one who has been by her side it seemed as though he won Irma's affection.... But noooo... Mr. Benny wakes up to find Irma has left him (is she looking for her true love Kermit ?) ... Okay not to turn this into "as the seal swims" soap opera..... I am amazed at the photo documentation of Benny's reaction to this.... Without watching these animals and become intimate with their personalities...  I'm not sure anyone has been able to see this type of display of  behavior.  All I can say is WOW! ~donna~

Yesterday we had planned to go get feed down Waimanalo, then help DB. But after coming across Benny and Irma, we changed our plans immediately. Most of the day we just observed Irma and Benny snoozing, with Benny checking and rechecking if Irma was still at his side. But, Irma had this look, Benny wanted to go higher. He did, She Didnt!! Her plan was in motion. Benny rechecked from his location, IRMA WAS STILL THERE. HE MADE A ONE MINUTE MISTAKE..BENNY FELL A SLEEP. Irma saw that, she swiftly took off, not looking back. She was SMART, we watched her inch her way to the water, then she made her get away. Benny, jumpe up in mid air, turned to right, to the left, behind him, he started growling as if yelling..."IRMA, IRMA!!! Where are you!!!" I almost wanted to tell Benny, except, I didnt know which direction she went either. She was in "STELTH" mode..GONE!! Benny continued up the shore, saw rubbish bags, BLACK ONES. HE immediately ran up, sniffed it, then GROWLED, Snorted, Mouth wide opened in ANGER!! He went to the bushes, looked, YELLED, BELLOWED...IRMA, IRMA!! He charged us, we tried to get the ropes out of his way, he was going all over the place, LOOKING FRANTICALLY. I cried..it was truly so sad. I felt for Benny. This went on for maybe 20 min. or more. THis stupid lady, didnt listen to us, went up to Crazy Benny. OF course his reaction...CHARGE!!! Lady took off and never came back. THen, Benny just lay there, panting heavily...with this look of sadness. I really felt for him. He remained on shore, OH HOW SAD. Things were settled...we left poor Benny...he fell a sleep...ALONE. HOLY SMOKES, WE NEVER SAW ANYTHING SO EMOTIONAL!!! WHat will be today??? Will all three show up at White Plains??? I hope not, this could be WILD!!!
