May 19, 2026 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:45 to 2:58 pm and there were nine seals seen during that time.
Near LPB channel were MO3 and PO3. They were nursing near the water initially and then moved up the beach where PO3 nursed again. Then they went into snooze mode. Momma MO3 is looking thin. One wonder how much longer she will nurse the pup. Marilyn still hasn't been able to determine PO3's sex.
Initially in the middle of LPB were RK38 Haili'a and PO4. They
entered the water zbout 1:04 pm and hauled out about 2:14 pm. They then moved up the beach and PO4 nursed for an extended time. PO4 was born 5 weeks ago today. Marilyn isn't sure of PO4's sex. Mom RK38 seems to have  a fair amount of fat reserves.
Between the 1BS and the 2BS were RF34 Pua and PO5. Marilyn thinks PO5 is a male, but still needs to be confirmed. They nursed for some time and then went into snooze mode.
Initially on the waterfront rocks between the 3BS and SRI was a Sub-adult Male: sub-adult size, male belly not sure about tags. After lolling
around in the water, he hauled out and went into snooze mode.
Initially in the SRI channel was a Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, lots of green in the coat, female belly and two red tags. She later moved up on the beach and moved around there.
At 1:58 pm Marilyn saw a seal haul out from the RRB channel. The seal was a sub-adult size but never showed its ventral or tags so its reported as an Unknown Sub-adult.

Team R&B started on the west side. It was a deju vu moment. The
first seal they ID'd was RP30 Puka. The other seal in the seal inlet was an Unknown Male. Same male as yesterday. Same two seals in the same area as yesterday.

Next they headed over to plains and it has been a bit since there have been any seals there. But today R416 showed up. It took them a long time to make his ID. He was facing the wrong way. Then lady ocean helped by slamming waves into him He galumphed and turned up. They saw his CC scar on left flipper. R416 had been on Rabbit Island
all week with the moms. He seem pooped out and stayed in one position for a while.

Last but no least at another site they spotted a seal on the rocks. The seal looked like it was going to leave, so they were able to quickly get a couple of pictures. Then they went over and found RG28 Lefty had hauled back up on the rocks.
