9/6/2010 DB Dailies

Despite a full day of Rabbit Island observations, plus two trips through the SE Quadrant, I found zero critters today. I even did a last gasp 1700 check, but still nothing . Fortunately, others had more luck.

I got a call from posse member Carol at 0923 , reporting a small animal with red tags, and a transmitter on it's back at Diamond Head. I called Colleen immediately and she was on the job in a flash, since it was right next door to her house. At 1023 she confirmed the Makaiwi ID. She would remain until 1400 , when the rising tide got to her.

Robert Billand called at 0938 with the report of Irma and Benny at Nimitz Cove, on the west side of the jetty. They would remain there all day, and if that weren't enough, they were joined by Rocky at 1500. She stayed off to the left of the pair. Irma and Benny departed at 1725. Rocky remained.

Marilyn and Barbara did the Ka'ena Point trek today, and found Ka'ena, Kerby and T15M,at the end of the world. Unfortunately, Ka'ena has an Ulua hook with a short piece of leader in his left fore flipper. It appears quite superficial, and Ka'ena might very well get rid of it himself. It could also just fall out on his molt. The office has been notified.

Dera called at 1216 with the report of an animal at the Mokuleia Polo Field. Dana said someone was going, but I've had no further word at this writing.

Dana called at 1240 to advise that Ua Malie was on the TB side of the point today, fronting the Mac Kenzie property. Once again Diane Gabriel came through with outstanding shots.

I got excellent news from Diane Pike, on Molokai, at 1438. She had found RW30 today, and the large hook she'd had in her lip is gone !!!!! (This is good news lets hope Ka'ena can figure out how to do this.... and I know Auntie Val was very excited about the news too!)
