Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:25 to 1:45 and there were two seals during her observations.
When she arrived only RK37 Hui'a was visible. She was on the 1BS side of LPB. She was ID'd by her subadult size, new coat, light gray female belly, two red tags and her NB on her lower left side.
Finally about 1:30, RQ44 Mahina hauled out down from the 3BS. She is slowly making her way in the Makapuu direction along RI shoreline. She was ID'd by her weaner size, tags and the N1 applied bleach on her back. Her belly was too sandy to see her female belly. She appears to be doing great.
Team R&B started out early to have breakfast and to pick up junior sealette. They made a stop at theoutfall and there was RL20 Kalua coming in from the east side. They hung out for a little bit to watch the kid do his thing.
Team R&B decided to change things up today. They decided to introduce junior sealette to Right Spot R016 and PO9. All the years junior sealette has been going out with her grandparents, she had never seen Right Spot.
When they arrived, a volunteer was on site and very nice to talk with. She said PO9 is 10 days old, but not sure of its sex just yet.
Right Spot was snoozing in the shoreline in the water. PO9 was busy going around her chasing something in the shallows. Even though Mom was napping she clearly was aware of the pup. At one point when the little one went out a bit, Right Spot barked just once and PO9 came right back.
PO9 crawled on mom anxious to get moving, but Mom was just snoozing. PO9 went around and nursed and relaxed a bit.
Barb decided to walk out a bit to see if there were any other critters. She saw signs but no seal, she waited but no luck. She was just about to go further when she spotted a slither of a seal swimming. The seal was coming in, slowly, looking around. It landed on the rocks and Barb was able to ID K80. She is looking beautiful, nice clean coat and tags were visible briefly.
The rain came so she hurried back and they left.
