Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:45 to 2:00 and there was only one critter on island.
Weaner RQ44 Mahina hauled out among waterfront rocks between 1BS and 2BS. She then went into snooze mode. Her tags and N1 applied bleach were visible.
Team R&B had appointments today. Before heading out to theirappointment they found two seals foraging in the outfall again.
One was RL20 Kalua was busy going by the wall on the left side.
The other seal foraging was RH32 Kaale. He was all over the place going in and out of the outfall.
They also spotted a turtle, not their three legged friend, but another one looking healthy.
Later in the afternoon they made a stop on their way home. RL20 was hauled out on the rocks, and Kaale was still going for broke in and out of the outfall.
Team T&D met up with Lesley when they hiked out to Ka'ena Point. Their first find was R330 Squinty with Kamanaka RL47. Next they saw RL98 still in the area after finishing her molt.
When they were at the point they saw Ka'ena RO40 was very busy on a mission. He checked out the main pool and surrounding areas several times. He was also swimming very fast, faster than when he's in cruising mode.
Lastly, they were treated to a rare experience, watching a seal eat an eel. They spotted a seal doing deep dives about 50 yards off shore. Soon after they saw the seal in a shallow tide pool with something in its mouth. The seal was Holokai RG40 and it took him about an hour to actually eat the eel. There was lots of splashing and thrashing.
Today Gamma Gayle went looking for Kaiwi RK96 since it is her birthday today ( I think 10 years old). But she didn't find her.... Gayle did mention there was a presentation at Kaimanas naming PO8 to Koalani, which means heavenly warrior. The kids from the local elementary school named him and they were all there today.
