08/12/2022 Friday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn and Diane went up to the north shore today to check on R016 Right Spot and her pup PO9. They visited the pair several times during the morning and afternoon.  Its been awhile since they had seen Right Spot, and they get to see her and a pup!. They were hoping for a photo to reveal gender but PO9 was usually covered with sand when its belly was visible.

Between visits to Right Spot and PO9, they hiked the area and were
delighted to see RK80. Marilyn has only seen her a few times, so it was a real treat. She looks to be in good health and good size. Both K80, and K81 tags and her light gray female belly were visible. She has two short parallel line scars on the left side of her face, otherwise she looks very clean.

Marilyn then made her way back to the east side and viewed Rabbit Island from 4:00 to 4:45 and there were two seals.
On LPB furthest Lanikai was an Unknown/Unknown. Marilyn only saw the rear end of the seal, therefore hard to determine a seal's side
from this perspective.  This could be any size, from a chubby weaner to an adult. While Marilyn was checking the other parts of the island the U/U apparently entered the water.
The other seal was a Subadult Female: subadult size, lighter female belly and two red tags.

Team R&B first find today was RM31 Kai. He was on the rocks alone and snoozing. He is looking quite large today, the fattest they have seen him.

Next they went to the outfall to check and sure enough there was RL20 Kalua foraging.
But then he went to the big boys hooks to feast on live bait. Team R&B watched how RL20 would look at the fish on a hook, grab it, and then tossed his head right and left, tossing the fish with a hook.
He ate to the head, leaving the hook, which is truly amazing. RL20 kept at it, Team R&B headed out to their next stop.  They did return but he was gone.

After an hour of looking, they finally found another seal, the last one of the day.
There was RP30 Puka who was just coming out of the water hole.
While there they spotted a rather huge crab!
