On my first look at Rabbit Island at 0628, the beach was bare. I figured Sadie&Pup were in for a morning water session, but it was impossible to see them. When I got back to Makai Pier at 0806 Sadie&Pup(D#14) were just hauling out to the far left end of the island. They would do a feed and a snooze, and then returned to the water from round #2 at 0850, hauling out again at 1057 . Once again it was a feed and a snooze.At 1034 on a pan I found what would proved to be Nani (RK60) newly arrived to 3BS.
Gayle called at 1220 with the report of an animal in the Blowhole Cove, on the Sandy Beach side of the lookout. Both Gayle and I spent considerable time waiting for the animal to come out of his spot amongst the rocks. Gayle’s RW22 tag shot at 1316, and my right side NB shot at 1346 , confirmed the Kolohe ID.
Lesley M., called at 0748 with the report of BG (R303) near her place at Mokuleia. She advised that Tony Q., had seen her there yesterday, as well has finding Ka’ena (RO40) and a new arrival to Oahu, a 3 yr old male from Kauai, RN30. The 2013 son of Pohaku. This appears to be his first Oahu visit. Leave it to Barbara Billand to know that today is RN30's 3rd Birthday !!! Thank You Barbara !
A Dana text at 1320 advised that Ua Malie (RT10) had been seen in the Marconi Rd., area beyond Kahuku Point. That is a fantastic find. My last known notation on her was on 2-10-16, at Turtle Bay.
Tammy&Dave T., did the End of the World trek today. They reported Luana (RN58)&RW02 and Ka’ena (RO40) at Ka’ena Pt. Tammy & Dave also covered the area for marine debris which could be hazardous to the seal. Thanks guys... Ya’ Done Good ! They found BG (R303) at Mokuleia on the way home.
