Yesterday's News from Lesley

Aloha good people!
My apologies to Lesley for not including this on Wednesday night... it was a complete oversight on my part.  Please enjoy these great shots .... Lucky Lesley got to hang out with the seals while they were getting bleaching.

Yesterday, Tuesday Jul 1st, I tagged along Mark S. (NOAA) on a bleaching mission while monitoring Ka’ena Point.
We found RO40 “Ka’ena” and RW08 “Kerby” hauled out at the entrance of BG’s pool then RL42 on Back Beach out at the point.
The three of them got new bleaches:
·         RO40 “Ka’ena”  N9
·         RW08 “Kerby” – N8 he scratched himself so the 8 was partly smudged, perhaps he’ll have two bleached nails now
·         RL42 – N20

Although we looked for RN58 “Luana” in all her favorite haul outs spots she was NO where to be seen. Hopefully she will be reported soon.
We also took the opportunity to do outreach with fishermen. Mark had brochures and barbless hooks to give out and we added hotline cards to them.

The albatross chicks are starting to play and stretch their wings. We should be on a very close countdown for their leave.

It was a good and successful day
Aloha,  Lesley
