At 0815 I found Kainoa (RN04) all alone at the left end of Rabbit Island. He had the place all to himself, until 1145 when Sadie (RB12) hauled out to the left end rock flats. Shortly thereafter, at 1150, Aukai (RL12) hauled out to the left end. Her arrival was interesting because DOCARE posse member Ken had called at 1019 to advise that she was no longer on Moku Nui, but a witness had told him that she had been there at 0730 this morning.
Lastly, in Rabbit Island news, today was departure day for the Sootys & Noddys (birds). There are just a handful left, and they will probably be gone in the morning.
At 1046 Team Billand checked in to advise that Eileen had called with the report of Kekoa (RK72) and little sister U’ilani together at the birth beach, at the Reef Runway.
Kauai posse member Gary Langley sent shots of Rocky (RH58) & Pup (RK4) on Kauai for the Yesterday’s News department. Thank You........ very much !
It seems like only yesterday that I was pulling a shift with R5AY and her daughter, Penelope at Turtle Bay, when the call came about an Mom & Pup at Ka’ena Point. I humped a load of rebar (no plastic coated aluminum in the good ol’ days), and rope out to the end of the world, and there found Irma and my 4th born son, Ka’ena (RO40). Happy 8th to my boy, Ka’ena !!! holy moly! time flies!
