4-18-2014 DB's Dailies: Sadie&Pup,Kainoa,U/F, U/M, RE70@RI, T21M@SB, Kaiwi@CW, Duke@LL,

From the Makapuu Overview at 0649 I found Sadie & Pup (RB12)(D#15) in the water off shore of 1BS, Rabbit Island.

　

At 0818 I found the new U/F on the left end rock flats of Rabbit Island. She would remain at that location all day.

　

At 0910 Ocean Safety called with the report of an animal at the Blowhole end of Sandy Beach. When I arrived at 0921 I found T21M, and cordoned him off. He has remained all day. Gayle called at 1753 to advise that T21M had departed.

　

At 1007 I found RE70 on his 2^nd RI day, at Seal Rock Inlet.

At 1110 posse member Melanie called with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) at China Walls. Thanks to Melanie & Gayle for another day’s hard work.

　

At 1158 I became aware of another animal, partially visible with RE70 at SRI. I was never able to confirm an ID, but it was an adult sized animal with at least 1 red tag. Maybe tomorrow ?????

　

At 1245 I found Kainoa (RN04) just hauling out to the water front rocks at mid Middle Cliff on RI. Unfortunately, he was run off by 2 kayakers who landed fronting 2BS at 1254. They saw Sadie & Pup down the way but thankfully did not venture that direction. One of the guys did , however walk a few feet to Kainoa’s location and while taking a picture, ran Kainoa off. I did not see him again today. The idiots departed at 1304. I called DOCARE of course, but knew what I would get, and sure enough it was the much dreaded recorded message. It’s a State holiday so all of DOCARE was off, allowing the bad guys to run amok at will. Sad !!

　

At 1310 Melanie called with the report of Duke (RA12) at the Lanai Lookout Cove. Duke has been hangin’ with Diane P on Molokai of late. His last Oahu sighting was at RI on 1-5-14. It’s nice to know my boy is back !

　

At 0541 the Billands got a call from one of their posse reporting 2 swimming seals at Paradise Cove. They were gone when the Billands arrived.

　

At 0803 the Billands found Kermit (R012) foraging off shore of Nimitz Cove.

　

At 0844 posse member Diane Tekai called with the report of 2 swimming animals just outside Lagoon#1, KoOlina and moving into the lagoon, with no haul out.

　

At 0846 the Billands reported Haupu (RB24) at Lagoon#4, KoOlina.

　

At 1030 Ocean Safety called with the report of an animal at Magic Island. I notified Dana. No further word.

At 1039 the Billands advised that the Lagoon#1 swimmers were now at Paradise Cove. The attempted a haul out but "a lady in red" at the water line did allow that to happen. They would finally hauled out to PC at around 1200 according the the Billands. They were confirmed as Kolohe (RW22)& Nihoa(R912).

　

At 1347 the Billands received word of an animal at Campbell Industrial Park. When they arrived they found M&M (R020) beyond Palm Grove, CIP.

　

At 1307 the Billands got a Hotline call about an animal at Guard Rails Beach, Maili. The animal was gone when they arrived.

 it always makes me angry  when people land on Rabbit Island... it's one thing to cross and SPZ but it's another to be on the island when there are 3 HUGE signs.
