10-13-11 DB Dailies and More

At 0600 we found Kaiwi (RK96) on the water front rocks, 300 yds east of the AD wall. By 0624 she was in the water, and beginning to move slowly toward the west. She was west of the tent, 100 ft or so when Alice came on duty, and when I next saw Alice, at 0938, she and Kaiwi were 75 ft east of the AD wall. Alice said that Kaiwi had actually gone to the algae covered flats just on the AD side of the wall, but did not got to the Irma's side. When I arrived she had moved back 75 ft to the east. Alice reported that Kaiwi was observed playing with a blue plastic cup, and a condom. Kaiwi would snooze away most of the day on the water front rocks of this location through Sabrina and Tammy's shifts. Tammy advised that Kaiwi entered the water around 1700, and foraged and galumphed around in the shallows, slowing moving slightly eastward. When I left at dark, she was in the shallows, approximately 150 ft east of the AD wall. June and Michele came through with outstanding shots today.

On my 0802 Rabbit Island check I was happy to find Kolohe (RW22) up in the Morning Glory, 40 ft left of 1BS. I'd last seen the boy on 10-1-11. When I got back for another RI check at 1038, he had relocated to the right end of the beach, at Seal Rock Inlet. He was the only animal observed at RI today.

At 1132 I found Buster (RV08) doing 10 minute dives at the Blowhole Lookout.

Team Billand checked in at 1007 , reporting that they were watching Kermit (R4DG) at Hau Bush, in Ewa Beach. He was slowly moving west. At 1102 they reported that Kermit had hauled out to Wind Sock.

Karen Turner sent midday mail with shots of La'akea (RK82), reading (or eating) yesterday's sign. Thank You Karen !

Team Billand reported Benny (RE74) at the Makaha Beach Cabanas at 1756. Dana forwarded shots from Judy Nelson, of an animal at Mokuleia. It's a difficult call, but my dollar is on RI37. I am awaiting an opinion from Tracy

Great series of shots from Karen Turner.
La'akea having trouble reading?
oh thats better...
check the fine print
oh that was exhausting
Kermit 4DG @ Wind sock
New Sign at White Plains... hmmm would have been nice if they mentioned stay away from the monk seals.
Benny out at Makaha
This gentleman needs a better lens. People need to know 99% of these photos are taken with a zoom lens... The people who shoot the photos are the proper distance away from the seals.
Makaha looking beautiful
Great shot of Ka Iwi fist pumping... maybe she has a little italian in her.
She found something.... disgusting
Seal floss

Those are adorable shots of the seal with her signs..so cute.
I wish there were signs posted about the seals that come to WHITE PLAINS all the time. We were trying to get NOAA and the Federal Cops to post one at each site out there, but it never came through..too bad. The cops wanted it posted!!!

Such pretty shots of Kaiwi...she is a HAM that one. Such a precious baby. She is keeping all very busy out there at AD's. Hey, where is Momma????
