12-7-2012 DB's Dailies

At 0707 I found Kaiwi (RK96), 50 ft right of 1BS on Rabbit Island, and M38 (D#13 molt, 95%) at Rocky Right Beach. Kaiwi would relocate to Right Middle Cliff at 1156, and M38 would relocate to Seal Rock Inlet at 1242. Both would remain at those respective locations for the rest of the day.

At 0937 a small critter came galumphing out from behind the Morning Glory and dunes at 1BS. My initial thought was Kekoa, but I could never got a good look at the belly, so I'm unsure of the sex.
The size was right, the coat was new, and there were two red tags, but without a confirmed sex there is some doubt. The animal would enter the water at 1138 and haul out again to the Waimanalo side of Left Point Beach, at 1221. That behavior, from moving out from behind the dunes and the new haul out location suggest the possibility of Nani, so I've got to go with an U/U designation. Maybe tomorrow will provide the answer.

That was not to be the only U/U today. Posse member Susan called from Spitting Cave at 0954 with the report of an animal. She only observed one up , since the critter was in travel mode, and not foraging. She advised that it went around the point heading east, prior to my arrival.

Team Billand checked in at 0746 with the report of Irma (R010) on the Ewa Beach side of the east end perimeter fence at White Plains.

The "Yesterday's News" department is overflowing with neat stuffs. Lesley and Diga combed the upper east side on R5AY patrol, but found only RL54 and big sister La'akea at their Ironwood hangout at the elbow. Teri also provided an earlier report of just RL54.

Zeeny did the Ka'ena Point trek, and found RIP, Benny, Kerby, Noa, RK36 & RL42 at the end of the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnJMZe7m2Fw

At 0945 they reported Kermit (R012) fronting the Snack Bar at White Plains.

Their next call came at 0959 with the report of M&M (R020) fronting #1708 White Plains.

At 1104 Team Billand found RI37 at Secret Beach, KoOlina.

Dera called at 1215 with a report from Gordon at MCBH reporting KC (RK28) at North Beach. Posse member Jen Christian responded and confirmed the KC ID.

Kimo did an after work KP trek and found RIP (RR70), Benny (RE74) & RK36 at the end of the world.

A great shot of two EXTREMELY dedicated volunteers. Both Diane and Lesley put in endless hours looking after 5AY. Thank you ladies for all your endless hours of love for our critters.
