We took a walk out to Secrets, figuring, Miss Pohaku would be out there. And if so, we would take care of putting out the ropes and signs...FAST. And our plan worked out well...but we couldnt get volunteers out there. I called Linda S. she would love to sit with Pohaku, but she was on a rescue mission with a shearwater bird. It was injured a bit, and there was no one to come and get this bird, SO..Linda had to drive this shearwater alllllll the way to SEA LIFE PARK. God bless you sweet Linda, for being an angel not to just Monk Seals...but to shearwaters as well.Linda says Sea Life Park took bird in, examined it and deemed it ok. Awesome.

Then because we didnt have any volunteers to help us out with Pohaku at Secrets, we just did Seal 101 in the early morn, went to find two other seals at Plains..Our lovely Makaiwi R4DF and Fat Boy..Kermit R012.

Makaiwi came up around 7:30am and was roped off by our dear friends, Da Surfers at Plains before we made it out there. THanks GUYS, you are appreciated Mike Nii and Richard. Miss Makaiwi decided to remain on shore the entire day without any problems..she remained after sunset.

Kermit came up at 8:58am . We took off to take care of him as well. He was so cute galumphing up shore, stops, looks around the beach, head up high, chest popping up firmly. He is a magnificent FAT seal that we love with our souls. He remained on shore all day as well, dead center of our set up, and was still out there after the sun set. Guess he needed alot of rest for his DATE with Makaiwi later in the night. He. He. Well, Makaiwi is a Gorgeous Chick and very much available. Yeah baby.

Linda calls around 6pm with report of Pohaku's departure...YEAH!!! So we left our two seals at Plains for the night, took off to KoOlina to get our equipment.

When we got to KoOlina, there was poor Linda, with all the signs, ropes, and my big informational sign, struggling down the footpath. She is surely...a TROOPER, God bless her strengths and dedication...Now that is a Remarkable VOLUNTEER!!! We talked about the day, gave each other flipper hugs, then left KoOlina at 6:31pm. Yes, yet another very long day with Hawaiian Monk Seals...WE LOVE EM ALL!!!!!!

AND...I saved the neat stuff for last...We spotted Hawaiian Humpback whales from Kahe Point. When we got to Pohaku's Site, the whales were just crossing in front of us. We watched them when all of a sudden, the MOM jumps out of the sea, full body breach!!!!! And of course, I missed the shot. She jumped two more times..I missed both shots as well...Thats ok, we shared binoculars with tourists who were so excited to see such an awesome site...NOTHING LIKE A HUGE 45 foot whale, BREACHING!! And to share this awesome sighting with total strangers on shore, to have a hawaiian monk before us...PRICELESS!!! As Diane on Molokai would say..LIFE IS GOOD!!!
