At 0709 I found M38 snoozin' , 40 ft left of 2BS, on Rabbit Island. After many a day of he and Kaiwi at RI , today M38 was the one and only RI resident today.

Posse member Linda called at 1133 with the report of Rocky (RH58) at Kokee Flats, behind her house. ID was by her N11 bleach . This is Rocky's 4th day at this location. She departs to forage, but returns. When I arrived at 1206 I confirmed the Rocky ID.

At 1204 Gayle called with the report of an animal at Spitting Cave. When I arrived 1234 I began observations of a dozen ups. (8 minute dives) I was never able to get a positive ID on this animal. All I can report is a medium to large animal with a newish, but not brand new coat, 2 red tags, and a 1 1/2 inch scar over the left eye. The afternoon glare, along with the animal giving me the same angles each time, made an ID impossible. Maybe tomorrow ???? hmm not even a guess...  now i am curious... is this one of our usual cast of characters, or is it someone new? or maybe someone we haven't seen for a while.

At 1317 Gayle called with excellent news. She had just found Kaiwi (RK96) at her old haunt at Lanai Lookout. This marks her first return to her old hangouts since she went to RI for her molt.

At 0825 Team Billand reported Kermit (R012) fronting Tower #2, White Plains. He would relocate to #1708 at 1130.

Dera called at 1509 with the report of RL42 at Yokes. I notified the Billands. They confirmed the ID at 1634.

At 1622 Team Billand reported a 95% molted Benny (RE74) at Makaha. There had been no other calls about him.

Kimo Smith had done the Ka'ena Point trek today, and had reported Benny and Ka'ena (RO40) at the end of the world. In his photos Benny appears to be departing at 1007. The Billands found him at Makaha at 1622.

Team Billand reported Kerby (RW08) at Maili Point at 1724.

Thanks to Andrea and Tom for keeping watch over Kermit and to Vera and Glen as well. Your help is appreciated.

I dont know why Kermit RELOCATED THREE TIMES yesterday at Plains. Maybe too many folks disturbing his slumber. Maybe irritated with all the sounds and vibrations from Humans. Glad he finally settled at 1708 for the rest of his stay. We left him at 6:15 and he was sleeping deeply. Could be he may be going into his molt session...maybe thats why he's so grumpy.

L42 is a blessing to see as always, she is a darling little tiny thing. I worry for her haul outs at yoks area...yesterday so many folks out there. I wish I could send her a message to find another less human traveled spot. There were footprints at her usual spot, that is very disturbing to me. I am sure someone bothered her, perhaps trying to pet her as she is so tiny and sweet. I wish DA BENNY would show him another route. Benny...YOU LISTENING?????

Speaking of DA BENNY, he was spotted on shore between a man out cold, and a couple on shore as well, sleeping. As we passed the site, I thought, hey thats a seal with those folks. I ran over to check and sure enough...THERE WAS... DA BENNY. My first thought, get those guys away from him, but, Benny was dozing, didnt seem disturbed. And the sun was gonna set so I did NOTHING.

We sat at KoOlina in the early morn, looking, waiting for Pohaku to come on shore, ready to rope her off. But we never saw her..then got several calls of Plains seal, so we never got back out there. I sure hope she went SOME WHERE ELSE...didnt get any calls about her at all. POHAKU, hope you found a new spot other than KoOlina!!!!!

Our fourth seal, Kerby RW08, was found snoozing his heart away on the rocks at Maili. I saw his bleach number N8...cool. He looked handsome and very peaceful...LIKE A SEAL SHOULD BE!! No ropes needed here, BUT, THERE WERE ULUA FISHERMEN, close by...Oh KERBY, please dont take a bite out of that tako on that HOOK. Kerby had been hooked like 5 times in his little life. What a shame. Be safe Kerby...love ya.

Again, Thanks to Andrea and Tom. AND THANKS TO VERA and GLEN for the needed help. NICE....

Ok, time to head on out and find them critters...B
