12-2-2012 DB's Dailies

At 0645 I found M38 and Kaiwi (RK96) out there in the darkness and VOG, on Rabbit Island. M38 was once again at 1BS (D#8 molt, 40%), and Kaiwi was at Rocky Right Beach (D#5 molt, 60%),
When I got back to the pier at 0805 I found that Duke (RA12) had joined Kaiwi. His new N18 bleach is clearly visible.

On a pan at 1221 I found Kolohe (RW22) on the water front rocks at Seal Rock Inlet. The entire cast would remain all day.

Tatiana called at 1259 with the report of an animal at Makapuu Beach. When I arrived at 1308 I found Irma (R010). She is back in the SE Quadrant! I picked up the rope at dark. Irma remains.

Tatiana called again at 1455 with the report of an animal at the Kokee Flats, Portlock. When I arrived at 1513 I found Rocky (RH58) snoozin', 100 yds left of the access path.

Team Billand called at 0935 with the report of Kermit (R012) once again at Wind Sock.

At 1003 Dana called with the report of R5AY again at Punaluu, but a few doors away from yesterday's location. Anyone have any further information? How did she look????  We all want to know all the updates.

Kimo called from Ka'ena Point, at 1027. He reported an 80% molted RIP (RR70), Ka'ena (RO40), Noa (R6FI), and Benny (RE74) all together on the back beach, at the end of the world.

Unfortunately, he also reported that Ka'ena has a small hook at the left corner of this mouth. It appears to have small feathers attached.

The highlight of the day came with a call from the Billands at 1044. They had initially seen two swimming animals off shore of Wind Sock, and followed them. At 1057 they hauled out fronting #1703, Nimitz Cottages. To our shock and awe it proved to be Makaiwi (R4DF), who has been on the Big Island (Kona side) for sometime now. That alone would have been a highlight but the Billands next piece of info was really the cherry on top. Who was she with ?????????..... Buster (RV08)!!!! He has been on Molokai of late, but obviously is now in hot pursuit of his latest love, Makaiwi. Makaiwi's last Oahu sightings had come on 5-10-12 at San Souci in Waikiki, and the next day at Spitting Cave. On 5-14-12 she was on Maui and then to the Big Island.
Team Billand found Pohaku (RO28) at Paradise Cove at 1500. She would thankfully depart at 1638.

Dana checked in at 1608 with the report of RL54 at the elbow, Turtle Bay.

That's correct, it's NOAA's print material. When RL42 was sighted at KPt I was asked to take the sign from the pup site out to the point. It was put on the main beach, but since it has been moved around by posses as the seals move around. Lesley
