I was out on the road when
Colleen called to say that Irma was NOT in Waikiki !! Later she would confirm
that she was also not at Diamond Head. Thats the way to start the day, but
now..... where will she be ???? (Only Irma Knows)
At 0625 I found M&M
(R020)& Pup (D#11) at Rocky Right Beach, Rabbit Island. Today was the first
time that they did not rise above the water front rocks during my day of
observations. All I ever saw was a dome that was Mom, and the occasional
flipper of the pup, above the rocks. They were not visible at all from the
Makapuu Overview.
At 0643 I
found Sadie (RB12) tucked into the base of the cliff on the Waimanalo side of
Left Point Beach. She would depart at 1009 , but returned to the same location
at 1208.
On a pan at 0644 I found
Kolohe (RW22) and another animal on the water front rocks at Rocky Right Beach.
It would take many hours, but the animal would prove to be RIP (RR70). RIP would
make haul outs up and down the coastline from this starting location to the far
left end, back and then back again to the left end, where he ended the day in
the company of Sadie.
Team Billand checked in at
0723 with the report of 2AW on the beach fronting the Kahe Power Plant. He would
be gone on their 1013 recheck. They reported lots of foot prints near his
wallow, so I presume that had something to do with his decision.
Dera
called at 0915 with the report of an animal at Laniakea. Dana would call at 1212
to confirm the RI37 ID. Thank you Hannah !
Also at 0915 Dera advised
that divers had reported "N6" (Right Spot, R016) in the water at Shark's Cove.
Marilyn did the Ka'ena Point
trek today, and reported Pohaku (RO28) and Benny (RE74) together and Ka'ena
(RO40) by himself, at the end of the world.
Karen Bryan called at 1327
with the report of KC (RK28) at MCBH. So much for my delusion that she went to
Molokai.
