I know there were plenty shots of these two lovebirds, but, yes, there was a story to be told. And I got to admit there were so many people out there from 10:40am to 6:30pm..kids, adults, retired folks, business guys, first time vacation to Hawaii folks, divers, snorklers, throw netters etc.
First we found just Pohaku, alone, on the rocks, nice and quiet at PEACE. Then just 10 minutes of observation with Pohaku, there came the familiar bobbing figure in the distance..DA BENNY..Da Dum, Da Dum, Da Dum...his head high above water, old factory working..came to the corner of the beach on left end, then to the right, sniffing the air, and then it was TA DAAA!!! I see her, my new love...Pohaku, Looking mighty DELICIOUS!!!

Pohaku turned and the love affair was on...Both sniffing each other, a small kiss, and then...the fight. Pohaku turned and left the spot after whooping Benny, but, Benny persued still. Off Pohaku went to LAND!! Benny at her but.
Folks on shore had to quickly move their stuff away..the couple arrived, more sniffing...and then the attitude of Benny.."HOWS ABOUT IT BABE? Pohaku..NO WAY..I'm only six and I need ... rest. But Babe, I love you. Pohaku moves to the right..Benny follows. And then both settle, Benny right next to her, sniffing. She slaps him with her tail..he backs off. Here come all the guests, with cameras in hand..WOW..TWO SEALS??? Oh My GOD!! Never saw two seals in my life. This is cool This is so cool. I felt Proud of our STARS, Benny and Pohaku. Every one that showed up, made their own LOVE STORY ... pretty funny.
Rob left at one..I stayed, but was happy Vera came to keep things safe. Thanks Vera..she left at 2:30pm. Then I was alone..and it was alot of explaining...lots of questions.
Suddenly Miss Pohaku had to move to the right, again and again. I kept adusting the ropse..and then .. Miss Pohaku moved all the way up to the Nopaka and there was just a few inches between her and the bushes..and folks HAD TO GO TO THE OTHER SIDE!!! I held my camera nervouly, I informe folks..it was way too close, but they took their chances...Pohaku was ok, peeking, but ok. After the first guys passed, I advised folks either dont go or pass in front of ... THE BENNY. THEY DID, timing the waves..then running passed Benny.
Pohaku moves down, Benny following. Area now much easier to pass. Ropes adjusted again. 5:10 pm ROB returns..YIPPEEEE!! 5:30pm Linda arrives. Awesome..And Rob brings much needed water with a sandwich..I woofed all of it down..gets so hot out there..
In the end, we watched both seals wake up, plow the sand, roll over, then it was time to leave as THE BENNY, SNORTED LOUDLY...as if telling Pohaku.."BABE TIME TO GO, SUNS SETTING" and you know she went OK HONEY..and she barreled to the waters edge with Benny shooting right to her belly, sniffing her da kine and they left into the sunset..Pohaku leading the way. THE END!!! Finally..time to go home!!!! But it was a great adventure and I am very glad, I stayed the whole time to witness a lovely MONK SEAL LOVE STORY.

I think with Benny it's more seduction than love!
He seems to be more the Casanova than "true love" type.
