At 0620 I found M&M
(R020) and pup, once again at Rocky Right Beach, on Rabbit Island. They would
move up and down with the tides, and remained at that location all day. I had a
bit more observation time in the afternoon with the high tide, so I had a chance
to see a few feeds, and watch the pup circumnavigate Mom a few times. All
appears well .
At 0855 on my 2nd look at
RI, I found Sadie (RB12) on the Waimanalo side of Left Point Beach. She would
later move out onto the left end rock flats. She would be visited on two
occasions by Kolohe, but had no problem keeping him at bay. She would depart
with the rising tide at 1148, and I did not see her again today.
At 0901 I found Kolohe
(RW22) and Noa (R6FI) just hauling out to the water front rocks, to the right of
Seal Rock Inlet. Noa would remain there all day, but Kolohe was up and down the
coastline, through the day.
At 1000
I saw a transmitter, barely visible above the water front rocks, at
Noa&Kolohe's location, a few minutes later the bleach on the back became
visible. It was KAIWI !! She would remain the rest of the day and hauled out at
several locations, mostly due to Kolohe being in hot pursuit. Actually, all
interactions with Kolohe were light weight and not at all aggresive. It looked
like good clean fun to me. Her last visit to Rabbit Island had been on 5-5-12,
and on that occasion she was captured, for fish hook removal, by a bunch of
those ugly, smelly, two-legged things,(the critters call us "leggers", and they
think we all look alike too), so I wasn't at all sure that I would ever see her
at Rabbit Island again. Time may not heal All wounds, but it does heal most. I
was stoked to see her back to RI and in the company of others. Personally I think they knew it was father's day so all the young'ens came by for DB.... Nani must of got caught up in traffic. Happy Father's Day to all you Daddy Os out there.
Team

Thanks to Vera and Glen Cober, also to Allan R. for watching over Irma today. She would be THE ONLY SEAL again. She got some nice hours of good rest and left at 5:23pm on her own with the rising tide.
The folks in the photo are the people from BBC..they wanted to film a seal on shore, with beach goers around. Irma was a great STAR and we felt proud of her. All went well, no dogs came to disturb her today thank heavens!!!
