April 14, 2025 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:11 to 1:58 and there were six seals seen during that time.
In the LSB channel was a Sub-adult Male: small sub-adult size, male belly, unsure about tags. About 1:30 pm he moved in the direction of MO3 and PO3. Marilyn isn't sure what happened but he suddenly changed direction. Perhaps MO3 let him know to back off.
On the 1BS side of LPB near the water line were MO3 and her pup PO3. Both mom and pup seem to be doing well. MO3 appears to have a single red tag on her LRF.
Initially on the water line on the the 3BS side of middle cliff were RF34 Pua and her pup PO4. Both were active and well. Marilyn saw at least one nursing session.
On the rock flats on the Makapuu side of the SRI channel was a seal labeled as an Unknown Sub-adult: sub-adult size, medium gray ventral, unsure of sex or tags. Seal disappeared about 1:45 pm.

Team R&B started off at pokai were there were about 10 fishers on the jetty.  There was one seal that they ID'd as R3CX. All was good at first then  they saw Nalu taking a fish, coming out of the water up to his chest, tossing his head back and forth. Almost like he was trying to get rid of the hook and line from
the fish.  He stopped thrashing and kept foraging. Then he had another fish, same behavior of thrashing about to rid the hook.  They stay until they were sure he tossed the hook and ate the fish.
He normally goes farther out, but the last two day he's been stealing fish. This is most nerve racking to watch.

They headed over to the outfall and once again the akule boats were out with their nets. Team R&B saw one seal, adult size with a greenish coat. They thought maybe there was a second seal with a clean coat.
One of them could be R3CU, they just couldn't read the tag to confirm.

As an added bonus today they dolphins were out doing what they do best. If that wasn't enough they saw a spout. And there were the whales heading in a westerly direction. They even got to see one breach.
