Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:03 to 2:54 pm and there were eight seals on island during that time.
RL08 "BamBamSquarePants" was way out on the Lanikai side of rock flats. Marilyn did not see him until 1:25 pm, but he was probably there earlier. He was ID'd by his large size and mottled gray male belly. He was gone by 2:26 pm.
MO3 and PO3 were in the water when Marilyn first arrived. Thenthey hauled out onto LPB. Both Mom and Pup seem to be doing well. Marilyn still can't confirm MO3's ID.
About 50 feet Makapuu of the 3BS was RF34 Pua and her pup PO5. PO5 was hidden behind Pua for the first hour. Marilyn did see a nursing session.
Another 60 feet Makapuu of Pua and pup was MO4 and her pup PO4. They spent most of the first hour in a tide pool. They finally hauled out onto the beach. The pup nursed several times and snoozed the rest of the time.
A Juvenile Female was again near the SRI channel: larger juvenile size, old coat with lots of green and dark patches below each eye, female belly and two red tags.
Team R&B once again did not find any seals around the west side. Soooo they headed over to plains
They didn't hear from anyone so they were a little surprised to see two seals on shore. They knew right away the female was Aukai RL12, butcouldn't figure out the male. Very big boy, small bleach on his but area ding on left shoulder and two red tags. Thats when they realized it was Nalu R3CX, he's back. All good between the two, they were just resting on shore.
Then things changed, they heard screaming, there was another seal arriving a very large adult male.
A big fight began with bodies flying, flippers slapping each other, and biting. The males ended up in the water, with lots of splashing and barking. Lots of excitement, and people were gathering.
Aukai RL12 moved to the side and rested. The boys continued to fight, Nalu went all the way to the right, closer to tower one. The adult male shout out like a torpedo, mouth wide open, and vocalizing. Team R&B pulled the ropes and signs away for preventive purposes. Finally Nalu R3CX just chilled out but he kept his eye on RL12.
The adult male stayed at the water line closer to Aukai. Then Nalu made one last attempt to go to Aukai, but the adult male wasn't having it. In the end just after noon time, Nalu entered the water and left heading in the Waikiki direction. The adult male stayed with his girl, for now Aukai. They made a zone with the lifeguard just right in case another seal arrived. All was quiet again.
One last sighting, they saw the dolphins out in the water. Then they saw one of the young ones jump out of the water. When they viewed the photos the baby had a Ramora sucking on its neck, poor thing.
