Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:25 to 1:57 pm and there were two seals seen during that time.
When Marilyn started viewing she found a Sub-adult Female: near waterfront rocks between 3BS and SRI: sub-adult size, grayish-brown female belly, still not sure about tags. The SF stayed close to the waterfront rocks during the entire session.
At 12:44 pm, Marilyn became aware of a Sub-adult Unknown in theLPB surge channel: large juvenile to small sub-adult size, two red tags and light yellow ventral. It was difficult to get good photos of the seal, mostly because the camera kept focusing on the yellow kayak offshore.
Team R&B first find was Miss Kala RH76. She was alone resting peacefully on her rocks. Team R&B were a little concerned with some of the homeless folks in the area, but for the time being Kala was doing just fine.
They spotted a seal on shore at electric beach. They pulled over to find RP28 Wakea. Immediately there were two tourist running down to Wakea for a "talk" with him and a photo shoot.
A surfer saw this happening and went over to tell the women to move away and respect the seal. Thankfully they moved.
They saw another seal far to the town side of Wakea. Before getting to the seal, which was little female RS32, a man stood by her. He was close taking photos. Team R&B went from calm to being ticked off.
They asked if he was filling a report on the seal if they were with NOAA,. He said not just taking pictures, they asked him to move back and stay 50 feet of the seal. Thankfully he walked away.
Then they saw another two seals. They hurried over to try and get an ID. There were two dogs on the loose and the two seals immediately left, scurrying off fast. Team R&B followed the seals further down.
The two seal hauled out cautiously again. It was RL20 Kalua and RL12 Aukai. There was no contact with the dogs, and thankfully the homeless guy came to get his dogs.
Both RL20 and RL12 settled.
Much to their surprise seal number 5 hauled out way down, between RS32 and RP28. They made their way down and found seal number 5 was RN14 Kalani.
They notified the hotline about all the seals, hopefully they'll get a volunteer out there soon.
Team R&B went back to Kahe and found tow seals resting. There was RG32 and R416. The two were resting. A man approached them with a badge, they weren't sure if he was a cop or DLNR. He asked about whales, and they let him know about the seals.
Lastly they headed over to plains. They spent an hour watching over a large female seal. They were waiting for her to move to get some information on her. They never saw any tags while there, but they did see scars and this led them to think it was RG89 Huaka'i. They know she has one gray tag but she wasn't about to show it. She is looking chubby.
On their way out they found 30 escaped goats, eating the grass on the other end of the area. Working like lawn mowers.
