Team Billand checked out White Plains early morning and found no one. They left to pick up their granddaughter Miss Olivia and returned. That is when they found Pohaku R028. She was already zoned off by the lifeguards. The lifeguards went above and beyond looking after her today. Team Billand notified the hotline and left to search for more seals.
Next stop for Team Billand brought them to Maili where they found Kekoa RK72 high up on the rocks with good reason, the waves were big today covering most of the area. Kekoa is looking large, well fed, nice coat and no new marks seen. Kekoa was joined by Kolohe RW22. He was seen coming up then galumphed higher up where Kekoa was resting. There was a few "whoops borts and snorts" between them, then they both would settle down for the entire day. Kolohe's coat is really silvery and shiny, looks like he is newly molted. And Barbara is thankful for that cue ball, makes him a real easy ID.
While on the Leeward side they spotted another seal hauling up on the rocks with big waves pushing him. It turned out to be RW02 PvKauai. More waves came in and he galumphed all the way up on high rock. He remained there all day.
Team Billand went to pick up sea shells and glass at Nanakai when they noticed there was a seal right there in front of them. They backed off but was able to ID RK36 Kauai Kolohe. He is near the homeless camp, and all the dogs are tied up today.
Team Billand made one more check and to their surprise there was one more seal high up on the rocks. The seal was dry and very brown looking. They were able to get a tag shot and ID's RN14 who looks very different when he's all dry. All the boys remained for the day.
Posse pal Gayle found Right Spot R016 at Sandy Beach today. Right Spot decided to place herself right in the middle, so nice of her. :-)
