Posse Pal Vicki sent photo of a seal at Kaimana Beach today, originally she thought it was Kaiwi. However based on information several facebook postings and checking in with some folks it's pretty safe to say today's bathing beauty is Rocky RH58. (Glad she wasn't at Ala Moana Beach since they have posted high levels of bacteria, I REALLY hope this state gets a handle on this)
Gayle reported two critters on Rabbit Island today. That was her only sighting.
Team Billand started out 6 am at Paradise Cove. Upon arrival it was still dark but the saw the shape of a seal on shore near the tree. They were able to ID Benny RE74. They called the hotline twice. Team Billand spent time educating the folks who did show up, all were nice and listened to all their history of Benny. Team Billand left KoOlina at 8:30 am.
Team Billand found RW02 PvKauai at Puka Pants Beach on the sand sleeping. Once again educated the folks who were up and out early and they were all thrilled to see him. Hotline was called, location and directions were given. PvKauai is looking good not so thin, guess he found a big buffet.
Next stop brought them to Kekoa Alii RK72, he was on lower rocks partially showing his tags. He was still there on there afternoon checks. Kolohe joined Kekoa on lower rocks.
The big news was finding Lei Ola RH48 at Makua Cliffs. She is looking healthy and has a shiny new coat. It took forever for her to move on her side to see and yes the hook is still there snug. Barbara commented it must be stainless steel since it's not rusty (thank goodness). NOAA was notified, they were not responding today based on her location. Just good to have a sighting and an update on this girl.
