11/15/2010 DB Dailies

My first look at Rabbit Island had been a bust, however when I got back to Makai Pier at 0929 I found Buster and Duke together at the far left end of the beach. They appeared to have just recently hauled out, and there was minimal initial interaction, before both settled down to a cool, overcast day, snooze. They remained all day, and were the only RI residents.

At 1114 posse member Alan Hong called to report "N3" at the right end of the beach at Hanauma Bay. When I arrived at 1128 I confirmed the Irma ID. She was on the beach, basically in line with the Cable Channel. Though Ewa Girl, and some others (including Irma) have use the left end rock flats, right end beach haul outs have been rare. Back on 11-18-04 4DJ (T21M) did it (that was our initial meeting). He was off the beach, up amongst the bushes at the extreme right end. More recently Lona and her boyfriend RI13 relocated there from their intial central beach area at HB on 8-23-10.

Irma had last been sighted at Hanauma Bay on 4-16-09, foraging in the Cable Channel, but she did not haul out. Actually, her one and only haul out to Hanauma Bay proper occurred on 5-11-06 at the left end rock

flats where Ewa Girl owns property. That is not to say that Irma isn't familiar with HB. From 04 thru 08 I would occasionally find her at Toilet Bowl, which is technically Hanauma Bay, but apart from the bay area proper. I rechecked HB at 1730. Irma was snoozin' away, and the place was closing. I'll recheck her in the morning

Team Billand called at 0948 with the report of 2AW at Tracks, and checked in again at 1028 with the report of Kermit just hauling out near the east end fence at White Plains. They advised that Kermit had departed at 1600.

At 1638 the Billands advised they were responding to a Dera call about an animal in Makaha. At 1713 they confirmed that it was Benny.
