At 0855 I found Mojo (RI17) just hauling out fronting 2BS on Rabbit Island. He would be joined at 1400, by Buster (RV08) and both remained all day.
At 1253, on my 3rd trip to Makai Pier, I happened to look up the coastline toward Waimanalo, and lo and behold there was a suspicious looking green log on a piece of beach, about 1/4 mile Waimanalo side of the the pier. When I got to the location at 1307 there was R5AY, and a molting R5AY at that (approximately 10%). She had last been reported at Kualoa Pt, on 2-8-13. She was still there at the end of the day. WHAT???? Isn't this highly unusual? When was the last time if EVER she was here? This is certainly a WOW moment.
At 0730 Dera called with the report of "N3", Irma (R010) at Queen's Beach, in Waikiki. Mrs. Whisperer took off to set up a cordon, and Karen and Stephen, also joined the party, even though they had already done the Great Aloha Run ! Thank you to all !! Irma would depart, of her own volition at 1715. Thank You Irma ! I'm surprised Irma didn't try and join in on the run...
At around 0745 Dana advised that there may , in fact be 2 animals in Waikiki. Sure enough Colleen called at 0800 to advise that she was with Rocky (RH58) at the Outrigger Canoe Club. No hangin' out with the masses for this girl. Rocky was on center stage, with her own personal and private "Kelley Girl" to cater to her every whim. SO what was today? Wahine seal day? Holy hannah all the girls coming out all over the island!
Team Billand called at 0849 to advise that they watching Kermit (R012) forage off shore of the Nimitz Jetty. He would haul out to Kermit's Reef at 1037.
At 0958 Dera called to advise that Tatiana had confirmed RI37 in Hauula.
Dera called again at 1137 with the report of "N6", Right Spot (R016) at Waiale'e Beach Park (just past Turtle Bay).
Dera called yet again at 1200 with a report from Eileen that Ewa Girl (RS00) and T21M were together at the Reef Runway location.
At 1326 Team Billand found Noa (R6FI) at Maili Point.
At 1424 they found Makaiwi (R4DF) at Campbell Industrial Park.
While I was sitting on my sustantial butt with R5AY in Waimanalo, Lesley and Diga trod the entire upper east side, and Turtle Bay, lookin' for her. There was a silver lining to their cloud however. Along the way they found and confirmed RI37 in Hauula, Right Spot at Waiale'e, and for the cherry on top, found RL54 at the girls favorite tree at "the elbow", Turtle Bay!!!!
R5AY - now this is a sight you don't see very often... (not the seal, but this particular seal)
She's looking pretty skinny... hoping the "team" will be out to check on her... then again we have so many pregnant females swimming around everyone else looks underweight.
so... i normally never discuss religion or politics in forums like this... but i am going to make an exception and say a little big prayer that 5AY makes it through her molting healthy, and gets the nourishment she needs to get her back on her flippers soon.
and she looks real purdy real soon :-)
\Irma needed a little attention... after all honey girl in waimanalo, rocky at the outriggger ... Irma HAD to be in Waikiki
we love ms irma!
Bye Irma
woooo hoooo Kermit @ Kermit Reef

In answer to Donna's question about R5AY having been in this area before, the answer is Yes ! On 5-9-04 I found her at Kaupo Beach Park. She has not been back again since then. DB
