At 0718 I found KC (RK28) at Makapuu Beach. Actually, I had gotten a report from Dana last night at 1830 about a Makapuu animal but simply did not see her in the dark. I cordoned her off and she has remained the rest of the day. KC departed at 1806.

Rabbit Island observations were very difficult with the VOG and overcast weather . It would take some time to ferret out the IDs but as it turned out I found Buster (RV08) and Kaiwi (RK96) just moving down from the Morning Glory at 1BS on Rabbit Island at 0802. They would enter the water at 0844, and I lost them. Buster would haul out , alone to 1BS again at 1150.

On a pan at 1208 I found what would prove to be Mojo (RI17), on the water front rocks right of Seal Rock Inlet. It would require some patient hours to finally see his natural bleach on his head.

Team Billand checked in at 0750 with the report of Makaiwi (R4DF) fronting #1707. They would call again at 0944 to advise that M&M (R020) had hauled out to join her.

Colleen called at 0752 with the report of Irma (R010) at the showers, Diamond Head.

Dana would call at 1041 with the report of a 2nd animal at Diamond Head. Colleen confirmed the 2nd animal as Rocky (RH58) at the Beach Rd. end of DH.

At 0852 the Billands found Kermit (R012) fronting #1701, Nimitz Cottages.

At 1031 Dana called with the report of an animal at Camp Erdman (Mokuleia). At 1127 she confirmed the RI37 ID.

I think it was also at this time that Dana advised of R5AY at Goat Island.

Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) at Maili Point at 1132.

My pal Jack (At The Bay), called from Hanauma Bay at 1140 to advise that an HB user had photographed "N11" (a water shot) in the Spitting Cave area, sometime yesterday. My posse and I were unaware that she might have been in the area. Today of course, she is at DH, so she may well be headed west.

Dana called at 1141 with the report of an animal in Makaha. I got a call from a guy at the Hawiian Princess Condo in Makaha at 1155 reporting the same thing. The Billands confirmed the Benny (RE74) ID, at 1231.

An email from Todd Russell, a MCBH guy, confirmed that T21M was still there today.
On my 1718 RI check I found Buster right where I'd left him, but along side him was Kolohe (RW22), and up in the Morning Glory Kaiwi was snoozin'. I could just barely see her new girdle.

When we arrived to this site at Makaha Cabanas, there were these Chinese folks, didnt speak english, right at DA BENNY. And he was fighting them by leaping up in the air, BARKING. They all thought it was funny and were laughing, continuing to harass Benny. He came close to biting the lady there..that wouldnt have been SO FUNNY THEN. We got to talk to one of the translators and then he explained it all to his family. The kid tossing sand at the BENNY. Oh brother, if they only knew how BENNY could be. It was disturbing to witness...as always. Finally all moved back and gave DA BENNY SOME SPACE.'

I really dont know what fun it is to disturb our seals all the time. I can never get used to witnessing this...NEVER.

It was fun to watch M and M with Makaiwi...they were playing and frolicking near shore for over 45 min. It wasnt vicious at all, just two girls having fun in the sun and surf. Wish I had better photos to show all, some times events like this are so soothing. Watching two seals, sharing a good time in peace, no one bothered them. It wasnt really crowded. But weekend coming up...you know what that means...HUMANS EVERY WHERE. I hope are respectful to our Precious Seals. They deserve some good days...so do WE.

Pohaku was snuggled up in a water hole..cant figure out how she stuffed her fat body there, but she did. So glad she found a nice spot to rest and not be bothered all day long.

Kermit showed up unexpectedly and I was happy as he was gone for like five days. He looked fat and very healthy. But on our last check, he was gone. Missed his departure.

I hope and pray AUKAI be ok...those shots of the spear in her head so disturbing and frightening. How any one can be so cruel to spear a pup is just horrible. When we were with M and M, the mother of AUKAI, we said many prayers for her baby. Thank god, NOAA and DB were there for her...Bless her heart.
