At 0720 I found an U/M, 60 ft left of 2BS on Rabbit Island. I'm sure it's someone I know, but I was never able to prove an ID, even though I tried all day.
Also at 0720 I found Kaiwi (RK96) at the base of the cliff at the back of Rocky Right Beach. If that locations sounds familiar its because you read it yesterday too, except I called it Nani. Ooooops ! I'm now sure that it was Kaiwi yesterday also.
At 0858 Kaiwi was joined by Kolohe (RW22). He moved up and they interacted for a while, and then both moved down to the water and went for a swim/play session. I kept track for a while but finally lost them. I did not see them again today.
At 1245 Zeeny called to advise that she was with Rocky (RH58) at Irma's Grotto, Kokee Flats. She arrived to find a woman named Debbie, and an HPD officer there. Apparently, Debbie had seen Rocky floating in the tide pool and thought the N11 was a wound, so she called the cops. Zeeny eased everyone's concerns and explained the situation.
At 1623 I got a call from a fisherman posse member advising that "N11" had just hauled out to the small sand area at the Kaiser Estate dock, which is the opposite end of the Kokee Flats from the grotto. Sure enough when I arrived at 1644 there was Rocky snoozin' and the sand. I'm sure the tide made the grotto uninhabitable, so she moved down.
At 0830 Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) once again at Paradise Cove.
At 0953 Dana called to report that RI37 was behind Candy Green's house in Hauula. The ID was made by her posterior dorsal scar.
Diane Pike called from Molokai to advise that she was in the company of my boy Duke (RA12) over there. He was happily snuggled up to a few others.
At 1428 Team Billand found Noa (R6FI) at Maili Point.
At 1516 they reported Kermit (R012) fronting #1706, White Plains. Apparently the cabin occupants did an outstanding job with the signs until the Billands arrived.
At 1722 the Billands reported M&M (R020) hauling out fronting #1708, White Plains.
An evening email from posse member Dennis Kunkel brought interesting news. On his usual trek from the Kahuku Golf Course to Turtle Bay this morning he encountered La'akea (RK82) at the usual elbow location, Turtle Bay, and tada !!!!! He recorded the first ever Oahu sighting of RA36, a 3 year old male from Kauai in 2009. Thank you Dennis..... Ya' Done Good!!
RA36/37 first time visit (documented) to Oahu - loving the sand art :-)
A healthy 4 year old !
La'akea
Rocky at Kokee flats!
Rocky N11 - glad there was some good outreach today.... but also good to know concerned folks out there calling in if they see a seal which they perceived to be injured. I would rather it be a false alarm than no one paying attention.
Mr. Kermit at White Plains
Look no cavities !
Miss MM makes an appearance
Noa @ Maili
Pohaku @ Paradise Cove
