It would be my 2nd look at Rabbit Island before I saw any signs of life out there. At 0944 Kolohe (RW22) and Nani (RK96) hauled out together fronting the 1BS at the left end of the beach. Nani ascended the incline, but Kolohe thought better of it, and rolled back into the water. He would haul out again, 50 ft right of Seal Rock Inlet, at the right end of the beach, where he remained all day. I finally got a look at his new N33 bleach that Mark did on the 29th, but it's very difficult to see at this distance. Thankfully, his right side "cue ball" natural bleach does the job.
I was all over the SE quadrant and finding nothing on my Irma/Buster quest, but at 1103 Gayle called with the news that Irma (R010) was snoozin' away the day at Irma's Grotto, on the Kokee Flats, Portlock. She had not been there on my 0800 check.
Zeeny checked at at 1105 to advise that she'd found Kaiwi (RK06) at her usual haunt at Lanai Lookout. She had not been there on my 0840 check.
At 0920 they called again to advise that Kermit (R012) had arrived and was with Makaiwi.
Dana called at 1029 reporting Rocky (RH58) at Diamond Head. Karen Rohter responded, and found her at Beach Rd. Karen as well as Christian Young have provided confirming photos.
Marilyn, Lesley & Ken did Ka'ena Pt trek as per usual, and at 1000 found only Ka'ena (RO40) at the end of the world.
At 1125 Team Billand called with the report of R912 at the Makaha Cabanas Condo. She had last been seen on 1-18-13 near the Keaau Bridge.
Dana had called at 1029 about an animal in Mokuleia. Lesley and Marilyn stopped by on the way back from the end of the world, and found RI37, basically at yesterday's reported location, at 1315.
Dana called at 1644 to advise that a happy and healthy R5AY had been reported at Pounders Beach, Laie.
THE Donna called at 1755, to advise that her Kayak Posse reported "RB12" (Sadie) on Moku Nui (the one you can land on). Yesterday's haul out had apparently been on Moku Iki (the one you can't land on). She is said to be lookin' pretty porky ! ALMOST... Friday's haul out was on Moku Nui, when KSK called off their tours to the island for the day. Saturdays' sighting was on Moku Iki, where KSK, DLNR and volunteers were out clearing invasive species and planting native plants.
