At
0626 I found M&M (R20)&Pup(D#35) snoozin' at Rocky Right Beach. During
the course of the day I would observe 2 swims and 3 feeds.
At 0638 I found Kolohe (RW22)
just hauling out, 50 ft left of 1BS on RI. When I back at 1329 I found that
Kolohe was now in the company of what would prove to be Kekoa (RK82), on the
Waimanalo side of Left Point Beach . It would take some time to get the Kekoa
ID, but ultimately his 2 red tags, male belly, and the all important epoxy patch
came into view.
At 0753 Team Billand reported
Ewa Girl (RS00) at Wind Sock. They advised that she departed at 1536.
Dera called at 1010 to advise
of a report from a diver of "N6" (Right Spot,R016) in the water at Shark's Cove,
on the North Shore. There was no exact time on the sighting.
That is significant because
at 1039 Dana called to advise that Jeannie Martinson had reported Right Spot at
Rocky Rights at 0923. It's not that many flipper flaps between the two
locations, and would be easily doable by Right Spot.
Dera called again t 1530 with
the report of an animal at Ka'ena Point. Photos confirm R912 (aka 761).
Also at 1530 Dera advised of
a report from Brenda at Turtle Bay Hotel, of a report of "N31" (La'akea, RK82)
at Kahuku Point.
Team Billand checked in at
1547 to advise that they had responded to a Dera call about an animal at
Paradise Cove. When they arrived they found Irma (R010).
R912 - 761 @ Ka'ena Point
\Green tear stains
Irma @ Paradise Cove - covered in sand trying to blend in
Well I am going to put my dime on Irma is NOT pregnant.
She may be a big momma but she isn't BIG Momma
Ewa Girl out at Wind Sock
Hmmm she's looking big but not huge
So last year was a record breaking 4 pups on Oahu in one season..... could this year be record number of non pregnant females despite all the advances from Benny and the boys
