12-3-11 DB Dailies and More

As dawn arrived at 0630 the quest was under way. There were lots of miles, trekkin' and drivin'. At 0821 I found Kolohe RW22) at Seal Rock Inlet on Rabbit Island. He would be one and only RI resident today.

At 0825 posse member Kathy called to report 2 animals at Spitting Cave. When I arrived I found Buster (RV08) and Duke (RA12), doing 6 minute dives, and operating independently, though Kathy said she had seen them interacting earlier.

I would return to Spitting Cave at 1255. Buster and Duke were still there. The highlight of the day came at 1304 when I noticed another animal on the left side of the big rock. At 1315 , to my amazement I found that the animal was Kaiwi (RK96), very near the cave. Her brand new N19 bleach was perfect, and clearly visible. At 1324 she move to the right side of the big rock, and joined Duke and Buster. From then until 1510 it was nonstop play and interaction with the guys.  At 1510 they moved beyond the 2nd point over, moving out of our line of sight.

Team Billand checked in at 0702 to report Irma (R010) near the east end fence line at White Plains. She would remain all day, despite a typical WP crowd.

At 0805 they reported Kermit (R4DG) at Wind Sock.

They next reported RO28 at Tracks. I forgot to note the time.

Team Billand also advised that posse member Clay Gates had reported Rocky (RH58) at IRQ at 1437.

At 1613 the Billands reported Benny (RE74) at Maili Point. Check da' blog in the morning for Benny shots. The Billands are being party animals tonight.

At 0850 Dera reported an animal in Laie. At 1440 she advised that the RI37 ID had been confirmed. Mrs. Whisperer did the Ka'ena Point trek today. Even before arriving she reported Right Spot (R016) just beyond Dillingham Air Field in Mokuleia, but the N6 bleach, and her notched RHF. At Ka'ena Point she found Ka'ena (R040) and 761.

I dont know why Irma likes to haul out with hundreds and hundreds of people at the beach. She MUST feel all the vibrations of folks running up and down the shore. She MUST hear all the screaming kids near by. And she plopped herself near the fenceline with THE ACCESS SURF along side her.
I want to say, ACCESS SURF people are exceptional humans, with such caring ways for the folks they take out surfing. I sat there watching Irma with Robert and both of us are amazed how they can take all those folks out in the pounding surf. To see these angels coming in on a wave, seeing their lit up faces and hear their cheering..YAHOO!!! simply extraordinary. We had chicken skin.
I had the honor of building a sand seal and humpback whale with Gabriel, a very handsome boy who adores WHALES. He told me he had 72 stuffed whales in his collection. I asked him, "GABRIEL, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUILD OUT OF SAND?" I love whales, more than I like SEALS. So we built our first humpback whale together...and the boy did a neat thing. He got white rocks for the barnicles on the whales pectoral fins...that was pretty cool. And in the end, we both checked out our whale, gave each other a HIGH FIVE!!! THat was fun, and then the waves took it away.
