12-8-11 La'akea @ Turtle Bay

Welcome home Diga!  So glad to have you home on the island and searching for seals.  Glad you found Miss La'akea. Seems as though she and her cousin Kaiwi enjoy the greens and pine needles..... silly girls.


I found La'akea at TB at 11:20am on the beach before Mackenzie's. I think she had just hauled out because she was still wet and on the move, looking for a comfortable place to sleep. She decided on a spot under an Ironwood tree. After burrowing and snorting around in the needles for about 10 minutes she finally settled down to sleep.

I guess those little cones don't bother her.... amazing because they hurt me.
