October 04, 2023 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:15 to 2:10 and there were two seals during that time.
On LPB was an Adult Male: adult size, older coat with some green, tan male belly and at least one red tags. There may be a scar on the right rear of the seal so it could be RK24.
Out on the rock flats near SRI was an Unknown Adult: adult size, medium tan belly and at least one red tag. This UA was in the same place as the AF from yesterday, but Marilyn doesn't think they are the same seal. She never got a good look at ventral side, but think most likely a male.

Team R&B started their day by finding RH76 Kala who just hauled into the area. She was choosing her rocky spot. As they were photographing her RM31 Kai arrived.... Surprise!
RM31 Kai bugged Kala for a long time and Kala gave it back to him. Kai finally settled down alone further up the rocks.

While on site with Kala and Kai Team R&B were taking photos of some boobies.  That's when they noticed a very large rock. Well that's no rock it's Lei Ola RH48 napping and looking quite fat.

At another west side location they found Miss R604.  She was alone and way inland resting and looking healthy.

October 03, 2023 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:05 to 2:55 and there were two seal seen today.
Midway between 3BS and SRI among the waterfront rocks was an Unknown Juvenile: juvenile size, older coat with a fair amount of green and at least two red tags. The UJ was often coated with sand which made determining its sex unreliable.
Near SRI was an Adult Female: adult size, light female belly and two red tags. This is the same female Marilyn has been reporting with a line scar on her mid right chest area.

Team R&B got to the bay and from afar they saw there was a commotion, bobbing heads as if seals were fighting. They headed over but by they time they got there the seal was gone and further away, They were never able to get a photo.

At Kahe point they spotted another seal from afar. There were five dogs in the area who barked at them, so they stopped and waited for the dogs to leave. Some left and the smaller dogs stayed, so with a stick Team R&B braved their way through.
There below was one seal resting. They were able to ID RQ42 Opihi, who is looking green and chubby.  It stinks he's in a spot with so many dogs running around off leash.

At another west side location they found a green male on the lower rocks. It was Nalu R3CX, who was resting alone. He started to perk up and entered the water, came back up looking. This made Team R&B look around too. Ah Ha! another seal!
There was the lovely R604. R3CX seemed to know she was there but couldn't see her hidden in the upper rocks. She stayed still and quiet.
R3CX worked really hard to see her, but finally gave up and left the site. They didn't see him again.
However Miss R604 remained snoozing peacefully.

Their last seal was a real challenge. The seal was so well hidden in the rocks they had nothing that would give them an ID.  But lady luck was on their side and the seal did a flipper flex and they saw the tags to ID RS20.  Love when they cooperate.

October 02, 2023 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:10 to 2:50 and there were two seals seen during that time.
On the 1BS of LPB was a Subadult Female: small subadult size, older coat, grayish green female belly and two red tags. She appears to be rather thin, although Marilyn doesn't think she is a seal of concern yet.
Out on RRB was a Female Weaner: weaner size, light tan female belly, two red tags. She appears to have a lighter digit or nail on her LFF.

Team R&B started their day finding two female seals at the bay. Kala RH76 was at her favorite spot in the shallows.
They were surprised to find a seal hidden in the grassy area, so dirty with red dirt. Once they saw her fore flipper bleach mark they knew it was RL70 Leina.
After awhile RL70 moved to the lower rocks and stopped. They didn't know why she suddenly stopped.

Well there was the master fish thief RH32 Kaale, checking out the two females.  He didn't know which one to go for. In the end he chose RH76 Kala, who immediately whooped at him.
Then Kaale turned and saw RL70 galumphing away over the rocks. He immediately turned around to her. She attempted to fight him off.
Kaale got tired of waiting for RL70, so he entered the water, but kept close by and heading back to greet RL70. She wasn't interested in getting into the water. After an hour she made her way to the rocks and she and Kaale proceeded to flirt a lot.  Team R&B were over the moon happy watching them interact with each other.
Meanwhile RH76 didn't have a care in the world, she just slept the day away. Every once in awhile she
would look up after hearing Leina snort.

Lastly at another west side location they found one last seal resting on the rocks. There was R604 alone, no males to bug her. She is looking beautiful and chubby.  She is easy to ID with all her markings, makes you wonder where she goes to get so many scars.

October 01, 2023 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕   Marilyn did got to the pier today, but she got skunked, there were no seals on island when she checked.

Team R&B got word last evening of a seal at Nimitz. So first thing this morning they decided to check their luck and go to the site.  When they arrived there were a bunch of folks checking out the seal on shore. They ID'd RH92 Nalani, who is looking good, no new injuries or hooks seen.  They called the hotline and made a "stick" parameter and crossed their fingers people would be respectful.  (one can hope)

Their next stop at Kahe they spotted two seals from afar. They headed over and found Nalu R3CX and RL20 Kalua on the rocks.  Team R&B hung out for a while. There were some guys that went over to the seals, but once they perked up they guys left.

At another west side location they found Lefty RG28 who was alone on lower rocks. It's been awhile since they had spent time watching over him.
Way over to the right was the lovely R604. She gently slid into a shallow pond and was hidden away.
