Marilyn, Diane and I went to visit RH58 Rocky and her 2 day old pup PO11. We also got a chance to catch up with Team R&B! It was a beautiful day with clear blue skies and sparkling water. It was a lot calmer than the past couple of days without all the campers and tents set up over the weekend.
The volunteers were on site finally setting up the SPA.
Rocky and the pup seem fine. The pup was very active and made several attempts into the water while mom stayed up on shore.
Team R&B made it to the pup site in the morning. Mom and pup were way down on shore resting, and at that time there still wasn't a fence up. They noted the umbilicus was still attached, but later after exploring it was gone.
Team R&B was told by someone who was on site earlier that a dog had gone up to the pup and sniffed at it. Thankfully that was all. The incident was reported to the DLNR.
PO11 ventured away from mom and headed to the rocks, playing in the rocks with the waves rolling by. After exploring headed back to mom who never barked at the kid for running off alone.
Team R&B got word of a seal at plains so they went to check it out. When they returned to the pup site the SPA was being set up. Seems they were short 30 feet, but one of the lifeguards who look out for the seals came down with some fencing! Big Kudos!!
When Team R&B arrived at plains they found one seal. It was the very big boy RT06. He's two years old and a big boy. Then they returned to pup site and we all got to talk story. It is really wonderfulto have a connection with all these special seal people.
Before heading home, Team R&B went back to plains to check on RT06. He was still there alone off to the right. But now there were two more seals together. Nalu R3CX and Huaka;i KG89 were at the beach together. The place was packed but that didn't bother the two seals,
